The Nortons

Nice choice esp if it's going to spend time on pavement. I put 705's on my SR500 and ran it up to 80mph on the highway in pouring rain when I hauled it down to Kiley's place a few years ago. Blew up the engine doing it (tappet cover vibrated off) but the tires were awesome.

I remember your SR at Kiley's. Didn't somebody slip some pink fork boots on it? Lol. I've heard good feedback on the 705's. I think they'll be right for this bike too. It'll spend most of it's life on the street and some gravel roads here and there. I don't think I'll be taking this one off any sweet jumps. ;)

I got busy tonight and it was worth it.
Twisting the throttle with a classic AMAL while the engine is not running, does nothing to "prime" the carb.

Cracking the throttle just a bit while kicking works ok for some/most classic Britbikes.

I should never have sold my P11 Ranger...

Yeah, Dad straightened me out on the proper start up once he came over to check it out. Twisting is just habit. Tickling the Amals works much better. :)

I welded up the cracked rear fender mount and next up is the clutch adjustment.

I'm doing the clutch and primary chain adjustment today. I also found that British petcocks are leaky even when new.

Got the BOTM NOM ! Thanks brother, time for an update.
I'm going to pull the wheels and hubs soon and send them to Buchanans over the winter but I've been riding around our little village for the hardware store and coffee. It is a blast to ride.

Glad you had an easier time with that primary cover than I did... o_O

AMC Norton Hybrids FTW!

But still drooling to see more on the Commando, too.
