The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Quite a reasonable review; factual and fair and plenty of photos.

You do get about a bit, 2b. You must spend even more time online than I do!

TAD...I'm in Melbourne at the moment , and only mounted the taco the day before I left. Have not had time to ride the bike yet to see if it works. Hope I have a better result than yours. I had heard these were a little slow to react.

An old french review of the Ace. Google translate makes for an entertaining read for non-French speakers...

http://www.moto-infos.com/essai-1739-skyteam-ace.html

This is the youtube version, which I happened across last year and how I discovered the ace. I'm sure many of you have seen it already! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bsHhcg2Rjk

Had my Ace a couple of weeks now and loving it. Longest ride so far will be the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride raising funds for Prostate Cancer Research.

To see the bike and sponsor me (minimum just US$2) follow the link...

It was a great ride, the Ace attracted a lot of attention and the rain held off...

looks like you had fun,
thats one problem for me living way out in the sticks, its harder to get to the city for events.

Part of the crowd before the start of the DGR - there are nearly as many bikes behind me!

Got back from Melbourne just in time for the DGR here in Canberra. Mine was the only Ace , and going up one very steep hill I actually over took a CB175. Although I have to admit it was not running to well..LOL. Will fit a 16 tooth front sprocket to see if I can get some more top speed. Fastest I have been so far is about 95Km/h. Have ordered the 150cc barrel (only) and would like to know if anyone can tell me where I can get larger jets for the Mikuni VM26 (22mm) clone carby I have fitted. I think the standard jets that come with the carby are 15/95.

As I posted before, I had a cg125 clone turned into 150cc, but kept the same 125cc engine head. This rose the compression ratio, and I did not have to change jets, I only fiddled with the bowl height to adjust the engine mixture

Hey Chris,
I have the clone carby, 150cc upgrade with bigger valves,
Running needle on lowest clip on needle which does most of your adjustment
main jet 102.5 and 20 pilot jet.
still not happy with pilot and i am tinkering
Also to b noted no air filter with a velocity stack and pretty much a straight thru exhaust.
get my jets from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330669695006?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
cheers ACEitup

Thanks guys...I will fit the 150cc barrel with the standard 125cc head and see how it goes. I assume the base gasket would have to be used so as not to increase the compression ratio too much????
Are the valves in the aftermarket 150cc head ( as supplied by OO racing etc ) only larger because they are for a larger capacity motor?
Another question...I don't know one end of an electrical wire from the other....so could some one run me through the connecting of one of the $16 e-bay 14K rpm tacos. I have it mounted but have no idea as to how to connect the light or the taco. I also need help Re the wiring of a USB port ( TWO wires only).
Thanks Chris...ACT.

Another thing I nearly forgot....When I fitted the clone Mikuni I pulled it apart to mount and found a small nylon washer with the main needle. I put it under the clip that goes into one of the five groves of the needle to adjust the settings. Does this have any effect on the setting , as I can't find it in any diagrams of the carby. they all show just the needle the adjusting clip and the retaining clip.

What are your thoughts on running in the Ace? The manual says no full throttle first 25km and don't get it too hot for the first 1600km

No tacho yet so can't be too specific about how I am treating it...

I am tending to
Not let it labour
Not hold on to high revs when accelerating through the gears, but revving it quite hard
Mostly just stop/start commuting at the moment 20 minutes
On open road (80kmh) sections, in fifth, using just off full throttle to keep up with traffic for 10 minutes at a time maximum

when i picked mine up new the guy said just ride it flat out on the way home, as i live 4 hours from the shop at 100kph so its a long drive, i did about 2-4 km at city speeds to get to the highway , then i rode it flat out at 90-100kph all the way home and ive had it two years and done 4000km on it and it hasnt missed a beat since.
