The XS, and the Sidecar of Death

Thanks I like it! It's an EZS RX5 sidecar conversion made in Holland. It has exceptionally good braking for a sidecar outfit. Dual 316 mm disks with two piston Nissin calipers front, a single 316mm disk with a dual piston Nissin caliper rear, a single disk sidecar brake linked to the rear, with a Brembo dual piston caliper and all braided stainless steel brake lines. Capable of seeing the otherside of 120mph the brakes will haul it down pretty fast and modulating the rear keeps it straight.

Decided to send back the expensive V-band clamps and just use these flanges. Exhaust is done other than header coating.

Nice, you are on the home stretch now for sure.

I definitely am. I'm getting excited to take this thing out. Hoping for Monday night if I get the tube I need for the rear mount.

Have in my hand the last part I need to get this death machine on the road. Going to stay up late tonight and get it welded on, preliminarily setup and out for testing/breaking!

Started the bike with the new pipes last night, sounds great. Planning to keep the stock filters in place, will do a plug chop soon and figure if I need to rejet.

Have two spare wheels to stick on the back of the sidecar now. Need to order some more Shinkos.

Pretty surprised this wheel was shipped like this and doesnt have a nick on the rims, definitely my best looking rim. It's from a 850, so dual disc.. Plan to use some aftermarket upgraded discs, calipers, and master though. Any suggestions?

Axle sizes are different, but with tapered wheel bearings, I was able to get everything so they can use the same outer bearing race (pressed into the wheels), I'll just have to carry two sizes of bearings.

I think it's early R1 discs that fit hub.
XS wheel will 'do' dual disc, just remove cover on 'blank' side
I used late model one piece stock 650 discs, they are larger diameter than the dual disc 650's but crazy heavy so drill a load of holes in them

Nice, will keep that in mind.

Also, this last wheel was $12 and $8 to ship, so I can't really complain about the shipping method, I'm guessing this seller lost money on the deal.

Yep, I used to pay $35.00~$40.00 for wheel and normally about another $35.00 shipping.
Pretty sure there is no way he broke even

Daughter had a gymastics injury and spent the evening in a urgent care office with her.. Hopefully get the time tonight to weld and take a drive.

Thanks, yeah she'll be fine.

As always, one more night.. Have 1-2 hours of work left before I will feel safe testing this contraption. Mounted the tub, but forgot to take a pic. Many more pics tomorrow.

I plan to reinforce the rear mounting bracket by spanning a tube from the center of the bend on the bracket to the frame on the opposite side of the bike. I will also brace the front upper and lower mounts with tube to the other side of the bike frame.

Took it for a hour long ride around town, top speed 65, pulls a little to the right, will attempt to adjust for that. Otherwise I'm pretty damn amazed at how it handled. Had a lot of fun in a empty parking lot flying the sidecar around and getting a feel for the handling!

Taking it into work in the working. See how it is in the busy downtown streets.

That would be a candidate for some 'square' tyres, AVON sidecar or maybe the Firestones (finally, a proper use for them ;D )
Bet the kids love it, my brother and I always liked being taken to school in the 'outfit' 8)
