I've been reading about how nasty the 2K sprays can be on your health. I take enough risks just riding my bike. I'm using a rattle can of 2k clear coat on my tank and don't want to do anything stupider than normal...LOL

I hope this Harbor Freight mask will do the trick...

Upon further research, I guess the answer is probably not... But I found one that Eastwood sells that should work - and for only about $20. However, I think its only good for one use - with isocyanates.

Thanks - a much better deal than the eastwood mask. I did call 3M to confirm it works with isocyanates and was told yes - if you use this filter

Also cover your eyes, hands head and all exposed skin, shit gets into your pours too. I bought a painters suit for like 15 bucks with a hood, then use googles and rubber gloves that go tight over the sleeves.

most 2k urethane paints contain isocyanates which are extremely toxic (think cyanide). A good mask will stop most of it but isocyanates do not filter well and have no odor until you are well over the exposure threshold. 3M recommends using a compressed air source. That being said, if you do it with reasonable ventilation and a fresh filter pack in your mask every-time, you are probably OK as you arent painting regularly.

What the good doctor said. Years ago, I was on the Material Safety Committee for a major aerospace company and supplied air was the requirement for 2K urethanes (and most other paints as well).
I got so wigged out about clear coating the tank and seat of the tracker myself with a 2K spray bomb, I recently sent them to a shop where they have all the correct safety equipment.
You're right - stuff this much fun should be easy to play with, but a lot of times, it isn't.
Don't build the best bike on the block and then be too sick to ride it.
