Just to kick this area off formally, thought I'd make the first post.

My name is Tim, and I'm an... oops - wrong meeting.

Started riding 10 years ago with the purchase of a defunct 1977 CB750 off a dead guy. I actually bought it through his neighbor, but the registration was still in the dead-dude's name. No brakes, sitting on a front porch. Amazingly clean given all that, and started work. Lost patience and bought a running 1973 CB500K, and sold the 750 to my bud.

He brought the bike up to snuff, even rechroming some bits, and rode it faithfully. He then sold it to a good friend of mine, who has since sold it off, buying a KZ1300 in his quest for more and more and more!

I rode the 500 for a bit, and then moved to a CB550F, selling the 500 to a stranger. Took better part of a couple years to make the 550F what I wanted, rebuilding the engine twice. Ended up selling it only 50 miles into the second rebuild, just a few months back (fall 2006).

Bought a nearly perfect 1975 BMW R75/6, which spent the better part of the 80's and 90's sitting in a dealership, just around the corner from my current house. It's my current ride, and is featured in the left end of the DO THE TON banner at the top.

I've spent my professional life in telecommunications since the early 90's, and have a 5 year old daughter that keeps me busy and focussed.

This site spawned from a bunch of us getting together on our old smoke-spewing (ok, that was really only me) bikes, and needing a spot to coordinate meets. Email was getting stupid, so we went from an MSN group to one forum, to a free forum, and finally to this site, which has been up for all of 4 days!

Welcome to all who share in the spirit of 'do the ton', whether it's making 100MPH on your bike, or 100MPG in your hybrid, or eating 100 donuts in one sitting.
