Tires

I have not even begun the tear down, but I need to start looking at what shoes I will be installing on the 750. I think I will keep stock rims (still on the fence about later supersport wheels), and I will (more than likely) lower it. Discuss.

Seems everyone runs Avons with great reviews...

I (and a couple others on here) have Dunlop GT501's... Can't remember the cost right now but they're modern and seem to perform pretty well.

Now, keep in mind that I switched from a bald rear and a Chen-Whatever front (which suck, just don't buy that brand - front tire used to slip out on quick turns and under hard braking).

Im going to have to dissagree just a bit on the Cheng Shin's. While MOST of there assortment IS crap, the HIMAXX is actually reviewed as a pretty good tire. Its not going to get the mileage that Avons or Bridgestones or what have you will, but i have them on my bike (came with them, and they were new so i left em for now) and before i broke her down to start serious work on her, i flogged the hell out of that bike, and it NEVER flinched. I would still recommend Avons over anything, but these arent BAD tires.

Fair enough.
Check how your front tire is wearing though, TonUp. I found that the front got reeeeally wavy after a while, that's when she got bad in the turns.

Had a bridgestone in the back that was good, but I decided to get a matching set when I upgraded... Think it ended up in the trash without me knowing it. ::)

I Shall keep an eye on er Ease..thanks for the headsup, but they are brand spankin new minus the maybe 500 miles i put on em this summer, so that could be why they;ve been right there. I do have a set of *slightly* used Avons, one being a Venom X and the other a RoadRunner, that i have here to put on after.

So how about the tubeless vs tube-ful? Advantages/disadvantages? What does a brotha have to do to go to a tubeless? I understand that the rim itself is different, what rim could be used? I am not sure if I will paint/powdercoat the rims or make them shiny chrome or polished aluminum. Decisions, decisions. Are the later F star wheels tubeless?

Anyone have a good site(s) for tire reviews. When I bought my bike it looks like the PO put on a cheap pair just to sell the bike. Wanted to see what kind of reviews they get. I haven't rode on them yet so I'll have to wait until the summer.

I have Bridgestone Spittfires on both my bikes and I have no problems.. I was told be several mechanic friends to never to put Kendal tires on a bike. Regarding tubless vs. tube.. If you have the classic spoked rims, you need to have tubes!!..

I've got Metzlers on my bikes. No problems with htem, and they work quite well.

I just put 30 miles on my new Avon RoadRunners (or whatever they're called) and they felt great.
