Hi All:

So a few weeks ago, my best friend since middle school got badly hurt. He was a good Oklahoma country boy that had a great career. So he decides to leave that behind and become an OKC cop. One night he was having a beer with his dad, and a fight broke out. The bartender knew he was a cop, and asked if he could help get the fight outside. So he did. In the process, a fucking white trash douchebag picked him up and slammed in on his head--immediately breaking all the vertebrae in his neck and putting him in a coma. Well, we all know what happens when you break your neck that badly.

I'm donating the original white CL350 cafe racer to his trust. We'll sell raffle 40 raffle tickets at $100 per at a fund raising event next month. I have to check with the trust's accountant, but I may be able to sell tickets online if anyone is interested. This means two things: 1.) I won't be making MotoFiaccone parts anymore and 2.) I have spare room in the garage.

I wanted a new bike with fuel injection that is dead reliable. I wanted to be able to take longer bike trips with my dad, who is a HUGE Harley fan (I think he has two or three right now). So yesterday, I bit the bullet and bought an 09 Iron 883, and I fucking love it! I love how smooth it is; I love the ride; I love how comfortable it is; I love how it feels SO much lighter than it is. And I love that I can push a button and know it will start--which takes some getting used to.

I Still have the RD400, whose engine is being rebuilt. I still have the dirtbike, which is keeping me entertained. But I now also have a daily rider. So I'm well happy.

I hope that he can get better and have some kind of nromal life, but from the description you posted, well let's just say we're pulling for him. Hate hearing news like this but let us know if y ou need anything.

Regards,

Maritime

Love the 883... Every builder needs something that will start and ride when the rest of the "projects" wont, haha.... I have my goofy xs750. But its fast, comfy and reliable. And when I cant seem to leave anything alone or together. I can always walk over, push the button, and Vrooooooom.... I'm off.

Really sorry to here about your friend. I have been in my share of bar fights. Never seen one have a good out come. And cant really seem to avoid them. So, I just dont go out anymore.

How come your not making any more parts? Or did I miss something....?

Lou

Ya, Chris. Sorry to hear about your friend. A good friend of mine got mixed up in a scuffle years ago, and some assholes girlfirend ended up cutting him with a striaght razor on his arm all the way to the bone. Nearly a 7" gash. She was going for his neck, and luckily he got his arm up first. You really neve know what scumbags are capable of.

Good get on the 883. Little anemic on the speed side, but thats not what theyre for anyway. Like Louie said, ya need a real runner to hop on when the projects are making your brain hurt.

Maybe one of these days Ill follow that advice.

Sorry to hear about your friend Chris. Good on you to donate the bike and congrats on the new purchase. Nice to push the button and go. Why no more making parts? Huge loss to the industry if so...

sorry to hear the terrible news man, keeping you and your friend in our thoughts for sure and we wish the best.

love the new bike too! i bet it feels great to know you can walk out and itl start up fine everytime.

I can kind of get where you're coming from on this. My father was a Navy SEAL and later a state trooper. He was badly injured in a fight at work as well and physically will never be the same. All it takes is one jackass to ruin a life.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and best of luck in whatever you choose to do now.

Hi Gents:

Thanks for all the kind words. I was just up in OKC over the weekend, and he is doing much better. My brother was telling me he has a little feeling in his toes, partial bicep movement, a little shoulder movement and a small amount of leg movement. Basically, he can hug his boys and twitch his leg. I'm just hoping for the best. The crazy thing is that I just had beers with him a couple weeks before the incident, and it was the first time I saw him in three years. Life's precarious; that's for sure.

I forget what they are charging the guys that did this to him. My friend identified himself as an officer, and after the broke his neck and kicked him in the head a billion times, they were jeering that they fucked up a cop. So yeah, they are pretty fucked. But it really doesn't matter. What's done is done.

Most of my MotoFiaccone parts were made from the CB350. If I don't have it anymore, I can't make parts off it.

The little Harley is actually pretty peppy. It's a much calmer, less manic ride than the RD400, but I have no complaints at all. I rode it from Dallas to OKC and back, and she did fine on the highway.

--Thanks, Chris

It's only a matter of time before you do something crazy and make your daily rider into another project...

Chris,

Sorry to hear all this. Remarkable advances are being made with this sort of injury now so we'll all hope for the best possible outcome. Great thing you are doing with the 350.

But don't give up on the parts man! Get a beater 350 that you can use for mock up. I kept an extra 360 frame and a dead motor for exactly that purpose and it worked out well with my exhaust fab. You have a good thing going there for sure. You probably have other reasons I'm sure just trying to throw a little support your way.

Very sad to hear mate...

The silver 883 Iron is a bike I'd love to own...I spent a few trips to the HD dealer last year just trying to pull the trigger on one myself...congrats on the purchase, she's a beaut...
