Tried to make some new friends at caferacer.net, what a joke!

the stock cb750 arm is about a foot long, it goes under the footpeg so the pivot is actually behind the heel. also, yes, those race bike rear drums may look stock on the outside but the internals are usually modified, such as the cam, I suppose an "easy" way to correct for some of the lack of force applied to the lever would be to turn the cam down in a lathe, but doing that would mean you'd have to make sure the shoes and drum were in perfect condition with very little space for the cam to take up, otherwise the cam could turn further than the ability of the shoes to push it back to neutral and you could wind up with a locked rear brake

Oh by the way caferacer.net turned out to not be nearly as bad as my initial impression. There was a lot of good info supplied and I did learn a great deal as I did here, thanks for everyone's help!

Untrue.

But I don't see the point.
Set up the stock brakes right first, then see if they are actually a weak link.

Also there is a difference between a leading and following drum.

That looks lite ha and at 5 hundred bucks its a bargain. I got a kZ read hub with it rotor and caliper and spokes for a 40 spoke 18' hoop I will sell if you want a real option.

Are saying you don't see the point for the conversion? I'm okay with how the stock drum rear brake, but at $470 to convert, it doesn't seem obscene to pay that. I had this same conversation on a Mopar forum when I considered converting my Roadrunner from drum to disc. Some see it as unnecessary, while others see it as a safer upgrade.

There are much better options out there to get a disc on the rear.
Just that one does it with more of he stock drum parts like the OP asked.

What size axle does a KZ take?
No reason the add a complication when there are bolt on options using Honda parts.

20mm just like your tug boat I pulled it apart to lace in a akront hoop only to realize it was 40 spoke so on the shelf it went. It's a shame I can't count :-\
