Triumph tr5mx Build - Finished!

Excuse the ignorance, as I've never run the fat bars. Is that a third chunk of aluminum sandwiched between the existing riser on the top triple and another clamp with the fat bar profile? I assume this is a kit sold separately from the bars to fit them to 7/8 risers?

Yes they are adapters from 7/8 to 1 1/8. I bought the pro tapers but you can get the el cheapo ones on ebay with various different rise heights.

I have those very same lifters/adapters on the Phat Trakka so that I could use Phat bars.

Inching forward! Most of the rolling chassis is done. I've been making engine bolts and I've done the final shaping on the seat. Covering the seat will be a challenge. I ordered the 4 way stretch material but the hard part will be attaching it as the seat base is ally so I will have to use rivets. Engine is almost finished I got the new Electrex ignition installed just waiting for my boy to come over to help be install the top end. I have to do the paint prep on the tank and side panels which isn't my strong point! I probably won't go for all out perfection as this thing is going to be raced and will likely hit the ground numerous times

Almost there! Got the air filter sorted and oil lines run. Should be on the track sometime in January, after the photo shoot of course:cool:

Man that looks great - really like the combination of the bare metal, pinstripe and paint. That you made the tank from scratch is ridiculously clever too, congrats man, great job.

Well we got it finished in under a year! I think dad would approve. Hope to get out to the track next week and will get some video. Right side shift plus one up three down is going to be a little confusing. Done it on road bikes before but not MX!
