TRX Cafe Racer

Thought about that, but the effort is beyond my time limitations.

Looks killer.

I take it that that's the 1098 rear tail? Is it possible to metal work the Yamaha knee dents to crease the edges to match the hard feature lines of the tail section.

Hi all. I had a few hours to play with today so I made up my rear tank mounts.
Firstly I measured and made paper templates and then used the template to mark out the steel plate. I then cut out the steel plate with a hacksaw and welded it in place. I also added in a cross brace so that the tank can be lifted back on the pivot in the upright position.
All went well and pics below.

I havent done the CNC conversion, still thinking about it. Its a lot of trouble because you need a mill to make some of the parts to go on to the mill for the conversion. Which is super except you need to pull apart the mill to do it.

this cutout is fully done, I have to start some of the other cuts. FWIW, these holes and the crescent cut have taken about 12hrs so far - its painstaking cutting through 40mm of 6061 grade aluminium (glad its not steel though !)

Was that really a Marchesini front wheel? Fark.. They weigh less than the box they ship them in. Not totally accurate but so light they make you head and wallet hurt. Not surprised you got good money for them. Nice project and nice work.

Threaded with M10 bolts..It won't fall apart !
Waiting now for the slitting tool to turn up to cut out the clamping slots and then its finished.

I have started on the top triple now.

Good luck with the rear linkage, I'm still struggling with mine. Also did you do the triple tree manual on a milling machine?

If this bike was sold in Canada I'd have a few in the garage. Watching....

There was a guy in NS who imported 10 of them from Germany, I missed the last one he sold by like 2 days.

Nice work so far. I'm in to watch.

yes, did the triple fully manual on the mill. tedious but easy enough.
Fits like a glove around the forks.
The linkages are simple, it more the mounting to the frame thats painful because its requires another hand to hold the shock while measuring and lining up the shock.
But I have now made the top mount, so I just have to mount to the frame now and make the bottom one.

It's good to see that there are still a good amount of guys machining the old fashioned way. Quite a few on here actually. Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing it!

appreciated !

Shock mount at the linkage. Its the same geometry as the Triumph.

Just got to cut off the old radiator mounts and then reweld in place and then the frame is done and can be painted.
