TRX Cafe Racer

As someone healing up from a deer hit last July I feel your pain. Hope you heal up well. I am still using a cane to walk and will be 2 more months probably before I am off it. Shitty you can't remember what happened as it would be nice to know why you went down. I was wide awake through my whole crash, not sure which is better really.

Heal up.

Cheers

Maritime

Thanks maritime, all the best for your health too my friend

Crazy stuff man, glad you're ok though. If you were in a slight turn coming over the crest, it's possible you just barely lifted off the ground enough to high side once you regained full contact. Seems likely, actually.

Blimey, that's bad ju ju. Still, you live to fight another day.

Beautiful TRX, I'm subscribed to this one.

wahoo out.
arm is fixed too. Getting better everyday. The two tips, small and ring fingers are fucked, finally saw the xrays. Also found out, I wasnt knocked unconscious but had retrograde amnesia.

Hey thanks Gill and Deepwaterimports, really appreciate your well wishes.
Hopefully should have the motor back together as I am waiting on shims.
Right hand is almost useless and I am desperate not to hurt the finger again while it heals but also need to use it to make it work and get muscle back.
So plan is to get the motor complete this week and home.
Once home, I'll slot it in the frame and stare at it and then plan the next stages of assembly, mainly electrical. This is really the fun part as it will suddenly look like a bike again

You'll get there, as soon as I started wrenching on the bike, I started healing faster. I was/am careful not to re-injure but I went for a ride again last Sunday, first since the deer clocked me and it was great. Glad to hear you getting the project moving.

Congratulations Maritime, I bet that was a great feeling. I'm certainly looking forward to getting back in the saddle. One thing that I saw in clarity was how good people were to me while injured. I'm lucky to have good friends.

Finally had a few hours to play. Painted the tappet cover and got some assembly done. Back in black.

Thanks Ryan, I am pretty much there and the doctor said working on the bike is helping my hand rehabilitate so that's great news although the wife said I'm joking but is true

why not :)?

will you do some performance enhancing stuff on the motor too?flatsliedes or big bore?
thinking about starting a TRX project too, how do these machines handle and feel performance wise?

The trx has 41 mm flatslides FCR yes. And programmable ignition. New valves and cam chain.
The motors are fantastic, one of the best sounding twins.
The forks and brakes were crap but just blend an r1 or r6 front end on.

Thanks man!how is the throttle respone on these bad boys?heard that they have no choke and a flat spot in the mid range when you pin the gas down hard.

They are race carbies, so no choke - correct. Im in Brisbane so its not a huge issue.
Any carb not jetted properly will run with rich/lean flat spots. That the first thing you do is tune the carbs. Unlike some carbs though these have pump that the big pistons needs, same as dellortos for instance. If you used the keihins or mikunis without pumps then they would also have flat spots.
The FCRs are a special part for the TRX850 and come with 150 main jets fitted and 145's and 155's as spares so you can tune them to suit your bike.

Thank you man!How would you describe the power increase with those carbs in comparison to the stock ones?
Just looked it up those are effin expensive...may I ask where you did source them?

thanks!
