tz inspired cl350

I really dig it man. You gonna do brown leather seat/grips to make that red pop ? xD

Not sure what biscuit brown is but a medium brown would look nice. not dark and not too light. I had brown grips and seat on my CX and it looked good.

not the prettiest of bikes but I liked it.

I think I want to throw up.... WTH is wrong with you people? Brown? Seriously? :)

TZ seats were black vinyl. CR Hondas were black suede. Black is the right color for a seat. Normally I'd say that's my opinion but I feel more strongly so I have to say that seats should be black. That's a fact not just my opinion.

Was that too subtle? No? OK

He's right. The motorcycle press even partially blamed the stock brown seat for the reason the CB500T didn't sell better than it did... despite having one of the best looking gas tanks on it.

:D

LOL Teazer.... ur the Jedi Master, brother.. I can't argue against anything you say man lol

:D Teazer settles it I’m sticking with the black suede idea . He does make valid points although this bike is neither a cr or a tz it is a sort of homage to my 2 favourite bikes

That side cover came up well. I have been polishing some CB160 covers and wheel hubs and they are horrible. Lots of streaks in teh casting where the alloy is inconsistent. Some of the small engine covers like the points and oil filter are a different color and are much softer metal, so that may be why Honda polished only the small covers and painted the rest.IMG_20200817_123336557.jpg

I use different grades of wet and dry and then the buffing wheel. 8" spiral sewn wheel and white rouge really brings up the color. Red is OK for rough buffing but a fresh wheel with white rouge makes a huge difference. You can still see imperfections, but it's OK.

Yeah I’m really pleased with how it came out I know what u mean about the different grades of metal my front hub was a real pain and after trying trying and trying it still ain’t exactly perfect but my fork legs and rear hub polished real easy the front hub just seemed like a really hard alloy maybe from where it’s probably been heat cycled a lot more or something or is it just a totally different alloy blend that point cover looks great I’ve never tried the white I will have to give it a go I usually use the red then autosol on slow speed final polish I have tried the blue finishing compound but I tend to have mixed results with it

This set of hubs has streaks through it that look like a really poor mix of metal in the die, but as long as I take pictures from the right angle, they look good. From straight on, they tend to look cloudy. It may be the way that light is reflected off the many different facets.

You are on the home stretch now.

yeah i get what your saying about the angles the hub looks great in that photo which brings me on to points covers. what do most with the cb/cl/sl do to theyre points and tach covers i got one thats reasonable ok and one that is badly scratched do many get them re chromed ? i am contemplating making some once my hobby cnc is up and running out of aluminium as i cant seem to find any decent ones anywhere. ive only asked in the local finishing place but they wanted a small fortune for those 2 tiny things to be re chromed

Chrome plated stamped steel covers are whole other story. I'd keep your eyes peeled for NOS if they ever appear on line. They may be cheaper than getting old ones polished and plated.

No reason not to scuff them and paint them or even get them powder coated. You could lso 3d print them or makes some out of carbon fiber, but I'd probably just throw some paint at them for now.

Been very busy the last few months with the arrival of my son and a new job. Just starting to get a bit of time on my hands now and again and I’ve been making some rearsets mounts not so keen on the rearsets themselves but I can always change them couple of lightening slots on the mill and a good polish and they should do the job well cut out of 10mm aluminium and I have made some shorter headlight brackets not sure if I need some slightly longer ones yet tho
