Underslung exhaust

Calm down and sail on
Hey guys, I want to apologize in advance if this was already discussed but my internets on the boat is slow and searching is very painstaking..

My question is, does anyone have a picture or help in regards to putting the exhaust under the fram like on Buells? I have a 350F and have been laying in bed thinking about putting the exuast underneath since I will have rearsets and such. I know they will clear with a side exhuast but I think a low exhuast wouldlook better for my tastes.

Also, could I use a newer/modern muffler and still sound good. I know the 350f has tiny pistons and I will never get a deep tone but is there a muffler/baffle that will make it sound deep sounding(as in not like a modern street bike) it could be a cafe type too.. I'm open to all ideas or suggestions.

I appreciate anything guys, and thanks again.. I get home Tues. so I'm trying to line up projects so I can just do it when I get home and not have to worry about thinking.. I have plenty of time to think out here at sea..

i have that very same idea for my cb450, but sadly still in the idea phase.......going to dive into my project sometime in the next week, but i was thinking of getting away from modern mufflers and going to a similar baffle system like mac uses (the 2 to 1 system they offer for the 450) but using bigger pipe diameter for the internal baffles, and slapping it all in a custom 3in exhaust can, hoping to get a slightly deeper tone but like i said still in idea phase....so if all goes well i will post pics of my progress

Ive made an exhaust that fit under the frame and can tell you that there is a loss in power. I tried two collector combos... 4/ 1, and 2/1- 2/1. I think the tubes are just too short and hold back too much exhaust. If you run open pipes it works, but the sound is too much. Increasing the pipe diameter will also help, but it takes away ground clearance and really looks stupid.

There used to be several low/center exhaust systems made but most have been out of production for 20~30 yrs
400f uses same spacing and they were used in a couple of racing schools.
It is possible to remove some of the higher frequency noise and get a deeper tone but there is a lot of math or a lot of luck involved.
Modern sportbikes used under slung silencers the internal routing has same effect as a much longer pipe plus direction changes remove different frequencies.
e-bay for a 2006~ Suzuki GSXR silencer, it flows plenty for 600 so will have no problems on a 350

Thanks guys, yea it is just an idea in my mind.. I'll look up that GSXR silencer and see what might work.. Or just suck it up and do a side pipe(s).. In due time..
