Vintage bike insurance with Desjardins

I spoke to a Desjardins agent and they will insure motorcycles from back to 1970. Rates are very competitive to Jevco if not better.

Interesting...

I have to give GTAM some credit. I saw a post about it there. Looks like we have another vintage bike insurance player in town.

Well they quoted me at 51% cheaper than Jevco
Would you be willing to give specifics?
Was the coverage the same from both companies? Liability only, no collision?
What bike and how much was the original insurance policy?
Always looking for a better deal but so far, Dalton Timmis has been the best price for me.

Two bikes. One is a 71 cb750 and the other is a 74 harley. Liability only on both bikes same as jevco. Have been riding for 18 years, no recent tickets or accidents. I saved over 50% vs. Jevco so givem them a call. My brother called and he has a new harley and doesn't have his full M. He didn't get a better quote so I guess they prefer the experience and older bikes

I'm checking it out. I'm paying $600 or so for my BMW R75/6 750cc at Jevco, liability only through JR Duffy.

I called and got a quote for my ST1100 just to have some kind of comparison.
Minimum required policy, no collision.
The price was $1050 and I'm currently paying about $822 with Aviva through Dalton Timmis.
My 1980 XS650 comes in at $289 and the '88 Hawk NT650 at $325 with Aviva as well.
I imagine that having 4 bikes, a car and home insurance with the same broker has benefits.
So it looks like, in my case, it's not worth changing companies.
However, it's always worth seeing what the market has to offer but every year I don't find any better pricing than what I have.

Thanks Dr. J for the info.
Got a quote from Desjardins today 1-877-699-9923.

This year's renewal with Primmum/TD Insurance, they want $471.00 for just $1000000 Liabilty.
Desjardins has given me a quote for $257.00.
I'm switching, paperwork is on the way.

Got a quote from Desjardins today, my 68 Triumph T120 was 554$ ''
the Rz350 was 466$ Im with Primmum Ins , with them the Rz350 is 323$ ;D ,but they won't insure over 30 yrs. ???

I just spend 21 mins on the phone with a nice guy from Desjardins, but they do not have my bike in the systems:

1976 CB550 F

so he could not provide a quote. tried everything, VIN #, make, model, google, nothing he did on his end would bring it up in his system (had me questioning the reality of my bike for a moment!). In the end, after speaking with a couple managers, he told me they do not have that bike in their system. HOWEVER, if I do the legwork, they would add. Same goes for most bikes.

Fax: 1-800-392-1870
Att: VICC

Send an image of the VIN plate, year/make/model, shot of the bike, bill of sale

then, they will go through the steps of adding they model/bike to their system.

Once I have done that, I will report back and let you know what the quote is.

Hey Maritime,
funny because TD wouldnt insure my 79 CX but where you live they will insure a 79 GL........interesting, same company but different rules for provinces

Johnnynogood, thanks for doing the leg work because if any of us get a 76 CB550F it will now be in their system

Is the bike registered with the MTO? Does it have a UVIP?

My '78 KZ650C2 is not in most Insurance systems.
They do have a later model '81 KZ650H (CSR), and that's what they end up using/refering to.
Maybe a newer model CB550 is in their system.
