Made it back safe and sound -- total mileage was just under 1000 miles, and thankfully the weather cooperated going out and coming back. We had bad construction gridlock around Wheeling, WV, and I was about ready to faint from the heat, but other than that everything was fine.
This was a unique opportunity riding out and back -- Lee rode Scott's 1975 (first year) GoldWing, and Scott drove his minivan towing a trailer (in case he bought some bikes). This arrangment allowed us to throw our bags in the minivan, and essentially ride the entire route on 'naked' bikes. What a treat!
Overall the event was okay. Friday was a muddy mess at the swapmeet, and people were offering me big bucks for my umbrella. As I wasn't really looking for anything, the appeal of the swapmeet was limited. But it was interesting to see some bikes and parts you don't normally see, and nice to meet new people.
I actually did find a chrome piece for my SuperHawk that I'd never seen before. I think this was originally meant for a Black Bomber, but it fit the taillight assembly of my bike too. It's stamped 'Stanley' and mounts behind the backplate of the taillight assembly. Anyone ever seen this before?
I'll try to post more photos when I have time.
