What did you build this week?

i've been doing "toucans" which is two tins of the wort with extra sugar or malt, thats what the dark lager is, came out about 8.5% and the blackntan i did a while ago was pronounced by an oirish feller i know as " dats orright dat is" which is high praise from someone brought up on real Guinness, he said he actually preferred it to the Guinness on tap available locally here, that one came out about 10%

got a batch of cider in at the moment which should be ready to bottle this weekend and end up around 8 or 9%...summers acomin'

i had 5 pints of the dark lager on friday watching the football and i have no recollection of the end of the game or going to bed

Spent the last several weekends building this out on the back of the Homestead...

20.5'x24' deck, railings, and swing/frame.
Still have to paint the decking, but crawfish boils are gonna be a lot nicer next season ;)

I also had a leftover prop skull that'll make it interesting for whoever demos the deck in 30 years...

In a feat of engineering, I bend a brake stay to clear my rear tire.

I got so caught up in what tire size I could squeeze on the bike without causing problems with the chain (170/60 fit perfectly on the TR1 with a modified CB750 hub) and totally forgot about the brake stay. Still have to weld in some support, so that hopefully it doesn't collapse the bends the first time I brake.

Is that stay to below the axle? If so, remember that should it shift, bend, or even come loose the rotation of the hub will make brakes get tighter. Perhaps even lock up. Happened to me at 65 MPH back in '75. I still have the scar on my left knee. If this is below the axle, make double-sure (nyloc or similar nuts, heavy stay) that it won't do that to you.

Thanks for the concern for my safety, it's certainly something that is close to my heart also :)

It's the one holding the brake plate from rotating as seen in this picture (showing the original stay just zip tied in place as it didn't clear the tire). This one will be reinforced with gussets welded in the bends and secured with threadlocker and cotter pins in the bolts just as the original one was.

Good deal. It is a pretty bad thing when the rear wheel stops turning but you are moving at a high rate. Your setup looks solid.

That is a beautiful deck! Is that a drain at the bottom of the downpipe?
Thanks for the compliments guys ;)

Crabs, yes it is. The patio cover was already there, and after much thought about what to do about the downspout, I decide to put in a small catch basin under it. It has a drain hose that's routed under and out the deck to the left of the pic. I also added a piece of expanded stainless steel on top for rigidity, just in case someone happens to step on it.

Finally making some progress on my house build:
Should pretty much take over my life here shortly

...so did you manufacture this or assemble? My daughter might like this frame...

Doc that bed is fantastic.

I spent about the last week doing these beams for my house build:
