What does everyone do for their "real" job?

Deek, it's nowhere near as interesting as it sounds, the money's mainly in commercials so that's the majority of what the company does, although they've just opened an office in LA so I assuming they'll be taking on some Hollywood projects in the near future. My job is to cut offline edits, that's getting the shots in place, making the structure of the film, 'tell the story' as they say. Then it goes to the VFX guys and colourists to make it look rad.

The company showreel here if you're interested.

It's not as funny as you think... It's also quite offensive to actual black belts. (Martial arts) There's always one in the crowd.

In any case, I've found the "lean" tools to be just as useful as the full toolset. When you get to experimental designs it gets really interesting. I'm in manufacturing so I get to use them all the time but it's surprising to me how often I think about using the tools in every day life. A simple run chart of gas mileage is a great indicator of maintenance needs.

Noted. A buddy of mine is an actual black belt and I'd rather not offend him, or anyone else that put that much work into their training. I guess I'll just stick with my black leather belt, haha.

Mechanical Designer; I work in Solidwork/Autocad, designing Industrial Biogas Conditioning systems.

I'm a commercial property tax consultant specializing in industrial and complex property.

Also a craftsman, carpenter, fabricator, artisan, etc. but that's all on the side for now.

Yea. Me and the fam just moved out here from Phoenix 2 weeks ago for the job. So far it's been great weather compared to Arizona. We left Phoenix at 105, got here and it was 75. Haha.

+1 Like cinqmars said!.. Tons of respect for the public service jobs. Far under appreciated and underpaid positions... Thank you for all you do.

I'm a police officer, a county mountie. Including military service I got 30 years pensionable service under my belt, so I retire in June at 48. Would normally have to wait til 50 but I'm going out on a medical having broken some bones when I was assaulted a few year back.

I'm also a local Search and Rescue volunteer, which I'll keep going. I'm one of the team managers/planners, but I often take my turn to get out on the ground as a Search technician.
