Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

This belongs to a friend of a friend. Got to ride it tonight.

"Do you wanna die, cuz this is how you die"

440 cc twin snowmobile motor. It was crazy to try and hold onto.

And one little, tiny back brake and no front brake. Dude! Nick is gunna' get you killed! How's your life insurance? :D

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

So it's the lack of brakes that bothers you?

Can I take out a life insurance policy on you ?

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

Haha and I think that tiny back brake really was just for decoration... But the lack is stopping ability was far less of a worry than the overwhelming amount of go ability

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

No need for a front brake, the wheel would never be on the bloody ground anyway.

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

The best part is take a look at my lower pant leg in the second pic. We flooded it a bit getting it started, loaded up the exhaust and with the muffler placed where it is, totally puked fuel/oil all over my leg. It was rad haha

I have seen Death, and I want to ride it.

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

Bike is still on the back burner, but I did just buy another motor that doesn't have damage due to a grenaded crank bearing, and even runs to boot. Next update in another 5 months lol

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

well I lied, its only been 4 months or so since the last update, not 5 haha. This project has been back on the brain a bit. Ive started the process of doing some actual design work, and if all goes to plan it will have a fully custom built frame with a kz550ltd titled neck (cuz I have one) This is just a very rudimentary first sketch to try to get a basic idea of where things may land. My first order of business is to get the rake and trail where I want it so that I can begin the process of building the springer front end. I have some reading to do to make sure that I have the rake and trail at the minimum of a non dangerous level. In the pic it is 25 deg of rake and 2.53" of trail.

another part of the challenge is that I picked up a pair of xs650 rear rims to lace up. I like the look of 18's front and back and will probably go with something like 100/90-18's front and back. Im lacing the front to a titan drum and the rear to an rd350 drum hopefully. Lots still to do, but im still plugging away little by little.

yeah it was a treat lol I was saying that I think I could have laced a wheel in less time than it took me to draw that one haha

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

Forgot to post this as well, through the magic of the "DTT postal service" I picked this up for a song. Planning to hack it up for the front end

one billion dollars. but seriously shut up eric, im trying to rip dock off on this thing through a private message, so don't tell him I got it for only $5000... ;)

Re: Why not one more. Snowmobile engine deadtail

Well, I guess ill be getting back on this project since all my friends are building bobbers and choppers, and I feel left out. (Looking at you Eric, John and kiley)..

I opened up the old cad files to try and finalize some designs and clean it up a bit. If all goes well I'll be bending tube for the frame before to long and finish collecting parts for the Springer front end I'm building as well.
