Willow...An Evolution

Re: Willow

Yes! Man the mock up you did looks awesome!
Great work!
And mike for the record I thought of the curvy-ness first! I kid I kid,
Hahahaha, doesn't matter as long as it looks bad ass!

Re: Willow

Sorry Rich haha. I think I've done to you before...sorry haha

Yeah guys I think you both came up with curves. I think both were like me in that the straight pipes worked but maybe it could be better.... Well we'll have to see what the others think. Anyhow, thank you both

Re: Willow

I like the curves, and like the fender mounts, the welding of the flat to the round and smoothing is the little detail that makes the bike complete, nothing that looks rushed or incomplete. I kind of like the slash the way you have it in the pick, the out facing, not sure about, I'll let you know once I see it, and also depends on what you do with the pipes, wrap, paint etc.

Love it, between this and Ringo's gulf, man I get my bike fix filled completely.

Re: Willow

Thanks bro....glad I could be a supplier to the madness today ;) Appreciate the kind words. I think the slash cut to the outside is the way to go. I still have the piece i cut off the upper pipe and plan to weld it back on so I can do the slash cut. The way it is I think it might be a little too short to cut again. Also I think if I re-cut the lower pipe and move the junction forward it will help the pipes flow a little better.
Anyhow, took a couple photos this am:

Re: Willow

Good Lord, man.

You know, I must admit here, I am just a little envious of your skill. Not only have you built four versions of a beautiful motorcycle, you also have the skills to take fantastic pictures of said motorcycles.

Puts my shitty cobbled together 360 chop to shame, ha.

Re: Willow

Can really see the dream coming together with those silhouette pics.
Spectacular

Is the tank going to be suspended with some type of clamp system the way the tape makes it appear? IMO that would really suit the style of the bike.

I'm digging on this bike right now and yours reminds me of it.

I can barely get the carbs setup right in the time you've taken to build a complete frame. Your skill is something. Love it.

No No No don't compare. Completely different style motorcycle. I love your bike man. Don't cut yourself short. You've done a fantastic job.
Thank you for the kind words though. I really appreciate it

Thanks man. Yeah its starting to come together and take shape. aah, the tank. Well I want the backbone to remain clean so it will be mounted under the tank and sort of float like a reverse of the seat...or it will get mounted on top with flats welded to the side of the backbone sticking out 2-3" and have bolts running into the tank. I've been stumped on how to build the tank. I can see both rounded edges and square edges. The rounded edges will be a huge challange for me. One thing that remains a constant in the different styles is knee cut-outs.
Anyhow, Thank you very much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Also thanks for posting that bike. I love it. I plan to go over it to maybe pick up some finishing ideas...thanks

Re: Willow

Aha! Now I see it (on the pc). They do follow the motor well and contrast against the frame rails.

About the tank: What about mounting it under the frame like the cardboard is but actually have an indentation in the top of the tank. Nothing huge, maybe like 3/4" deep but hugging the backbone. It would still leave everything exposed but no gap between the tank and frame.

Re: Willow

Hmmm. I see what you are saying. It would be like a very shallow reverse tunnel with the profile of the backbone exposed. right?? I like it.
My issue right now is the swooping back bone. The arc on top is easy but rolling the sides is going to be the tough part. I know i want the tank long and skinny with knee cut outs but I'm not sure if the edges will be rolled or flat? also not sure how to pull it off. Def new territory for me

Re: Willow

You know i love the pipes man! personally i would scalop the tips... take a look at mine, that is what i mean, gives it a very nice finish... these pipes flow so much better with the bike bud!

Re: Willow

oooh ya! you are also going to want to put a set of lolly pops in there if not they are really going to have a bad crackle to them and be a bear to tune with the pod filters...

Re: Willow

Well as you can see I had Tim break up this build thread. I made the mistake of continuing the new thread with the old BTC thread. It was just getting out of hand and besides I think the bike is a whole entity of its own now... Hope this makes it easier for those following along

Oh yeah the bike has its name "Willow"

Re: Willow

Glad you like the pipes Joe. I also like the scallops. Not sure what I'll end up with. I still need to lengthen the top pipe and move things around a bit. I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with these pipes though. I really like them. The lolly pops aren't a bad idea.

Re: Willow

Boys, boys , boys...
Pretty but way too young.
My Willow has been around the block a few times and she is a bit Voluptuous.

Willow's bio:
(I pulled this from an escort service call girls bio. I found it to be hilarious. I changed the name to protect the innocent
;D )

Willow
is a cosmic woman for the new millennium, a New Age professional of the future. A serious student of metaphysics, you will find her very knowledgeable in many New Age subjects such as; astrology, dream interpretation, tarot, past lives, spirit guides, and healing by massage.

Willow's hobbies are varied with sports, books, music, and chess. Of course an entertaining evening of either one of these interests, combined with fine dining, and a blockbuster movie, would make her purr like a kitten.
She has an ability to predict the future, but lives totally in the present. She never feels compelled to be grasping, controlling, or manipulative in order to live her life to the fullest.

Her heart is very kind and this is one of Her most endearing qualities, She has learned how to feel, to nurture, and to heal.

Being a cosmic woman, means being a master communicator, with words, gestures, and a soft touch she instills a quality of openness, warmth, and an intelligence that assures her that she has made real contact.

Her mind is liberated and true to it, her tears are genuine, her laughter comes from the heart, and her anger is truly bona fide. She projects instant love and acceptance, and reactions to her are either positive or negative.

Those who seek to be loved, and to experience true warmth, and caring will call her back time and time again. Those who pity themselves, and seek to complicate their lives (and mine) will find it very difficult to be around her.

For those more intimate encounters , Willow understands total fascination with the object of your desire, and well laid plans for slow,
seductive arousal in an atmosphere where all your inhibitions are peeled away layer by layer, and the temperature slowly rises.

Ok now that you understand my Willow a little better can we get back to the build ;D ;D ?
