XS850 - Monoshock & USD Fork (pics pg 13)

Pulled the plugs last night and I'm a bit lean. Might have to look at the jets...or see if I can raise the needle. We'll see.

Are you running it in the upper r's past 1/2 throttle? bumping the mains a size or two might do the trick to get the needles some room sooner in the twist.

Yeah I ran it at all throttle levels and it felt good throughout. Most of my riding was at mid rpm, mid throttle.

Yeah you don't want to run it lean for long and I know your a little tired of pulling carbs, but I would try the mains first.

Yep I agree. Especially if the mid is "ok" right now. If you bump the needle it's richer from the bottom to the top or 1/8 turn to the top :)

Took the bike for a 500 mile camping trip this weekend and made it about 250 miles before I blew out the rear shock. I know, XB warned against that shock early on. Time to try to find a higher end replacement that won't break the bank. Any ideas? Progressive makes a replacement for around $300. Wondering if there is a stock replacement for another bike I should consider.

Also looks like one of my rear wheel bearings might have blown which I think I replaced. But not have rear suspension could have aided in that.

On the plus side, the triumph carbs are awesome. Just bumped the needle up and it's not learn anymore. Runs like a top.

Happy times! (Except the shock but..) going to get some mains for mine now and start to work out what the crazy pipes want..

Should have posted some pictures from the trip!

I couldn't believe these Mosko Moto bags fit on the cafe seat, but they did. Really cool bags if you've never seen them before.

This is the ride where we were suppose to be riding a $500 bike for 500 miles. My $500 bike was a flop so I took the 850 (which also didn't make it all the way). The SR185 made it about 400 miles before it started puking oil everywhere and the CX500 of course was a champ and probably would have made it across the country with a total of $300 in it (including the bike).

Real mile-eater in those pics would be that silver swede though ;) those cant go for much in the states? Here they are basically given away for free since all of sweden apparently needs to drive cars no more than 3 years old..

Not sure about the Volvo as it was one of the other riders. They definitely have a cult following here in the states, especially the older ones, but you're probably right about them still not going for a lot of $$.

Hey treitz!

Great bike and great effort!
just had a good read on your thread...oh lord I had the same issues with my MK1 carbs on my XS750 project.
Would you be so kind to share how you ended up jetting your Triumph Mikuni carbs?

Link of my build thread below!

Thank you!
