Yamaha rd350 Road Racer Liquid Cooled!!

Teazer, good to hear from ya! That is the tz design I had in my mind, but I don't know if I have it in me to do that much frame mod after all. As far as the wet noodle frame, I do plan to weld in some gussets. I had a thread saved on 2strokeworld that outlined it well, but all that seems to be gone.

I had thought quite a bit about doing the ex linkage swinger too. @clem seemed to have good luck with his on his ds7. Whatever it ends up being, I'll likely stick with this wheel set. I'm a fan of the spokes. I have a lathe and reckless disregard, so it should be manageable.

I have a lead on a banshee motor. I am not afraid of the fab work to make it work in this frame if so, but I've read that the atv trans ratio leaves a bit to be desired on the street. Have you dabbled with those motors much? Thoughts?

There's a post on ADVRider in "Some Assembly Needed" about a banshee motor/RD base build. I think the builder is also an inmate over here.

Banshee motor with an RZ transmission is possible with some fab work, but that's a whole other beast. Banshee trans is not good on a bike, but lots more power.

I'd just make the hybrid work. LC motors make good enough power for that chassis. I also like the spoked wheels you have there. what size are they?

I shall plug away with the LC swap then. I need to re visit the rd250 bottom end I have. The one in the bike is worse for wear. Crank is stuck etc.

The wheels are 4.25 x17 rear and 3.50 x 17 front. Originally they were on a suzuki dr350 supermoto. The rear hub is a cush/disc setup which is nice, and a larger dr650 rotor and caliper bracket will bolt on the rear. There are also aftermarket big rotor front options availible.
