    CB550 Head Gasket Replacement

So I finally got my 77 CB550 running and then noticed the head gasket leaking on the left side. It's pretty noticeable and is sending some smoke up too. Its leaking where I assume the head meets the engine block. From what I can tell, I have to yank the engine to replace the gasket. Is that...

    77 CB 550K Running on 2 Cylinders

Thanks for all the help. I finally got it all back together and have it hitting all 4 cylinders. Did a deep clean again, new float needles and actually used FASweld to seal the overflow tubes. It is holding well. Found a guy in town with an extra set of bowls too so I am going to buy them and...

What kind of solder would you just recommend? I have done soldering of copper plumbing. Same sort of approach? Do you just run a thin drill bit down the tube once they are soldered?

    77 CB 550K Running on 2 Cylinders

Thanks for all the help! I took the carbs back off and started to take them apart. I also tried swapping plug wires, but that didn't fire the cylinders. Not sure, but I think this may have had something to do with it. One of the overflow tubes had a leak, so I had JB Welded it at the base...

    77 CB 550K Running on 2 Cylinders

I got the bike running on 2 cylinders again. I soaked the carb boots with WD-40 until it was dripping off and didn't hear any difference at all. Dead cylinders didn't seem to kick on. Still running with choke only wide open. Cylinders 2 and 3 are cold still. I randomly decided to shoot...

I wasn't 100% sure how that worked. Glad to know they should come alive :)

    77 CB 550K Running on 2 Cylinders

Thanks for the help! I will have to pull them off one more time. The carbs have PD and then 46AAOJ1 stamped on the sides. Haven't found tons about them, or heard great things about them. I have had them apart one time to clean in an ultrasonic cleaner and we did blow air back through them as...

    77 CB 550K Running on 2 Cylinders

I have been a long time lurker here, but never signed up to post until I inherited a 77 CB550K that was essentially a barn find at my in-laws. It wouldn't start, so I took out the plugs, kicked it over a few times to make sure there was nothing in the cylinders and exhaust and then cleaned the...
