Yeah I have a shop manual that I am following to set the timing. But if the engine won't crank any length of time then that doesn't work real well. I know I have made some mistakes but don't think I have broken anything except maybe that battery. :)
I have a multimeter and know how to use it...
I was trying to adjust the points today so hooked up the battery that I foolishly abused by accidentally putting the charger on a higher setting than the required 2A. Boiled the crap out of it and it was my first experience charging a lead acid battery so I didn't realize right away that it...
OK it is very possible that there is a gasket stuck in there.
The bushing is rubber and pretty dirty. The whole curved surface is grim coated and the flat sides are more clean so it must be more of a spacer than a bushing since it was sandwiched between stuff.
Getting my engine back together finally. It has 155 PSI compression in each cylinder when kicking it which I believe is good so things are looking up. I just have a couple questions (didn't want to add on to my months-dead old thread).
I can't figure out how the header clamp stuff goes...
How did I not know about this tool? It is amazing. Every time you visit this site it should flash in big letters: DO YOU KNOW WHAT AN IMPACT SCREWDRIVER IS? But seriously, this thing was like laxative for those screws. Two taps on each one and they just slid right out. :)
Oil filter had...
Hmm that is an interesting theory. However, I don't think the engine would have gotten so hot if it was choked, right?
So I am trying to get to the clutch/oil filter but I am scared of all of those screws. I had some difficulty getting out two similar screws on the bottom of the front...
Pictures of cam "bearings" (don't see any bearings in there) and what-not: http://mine.axvigs.com/cb360/camshaft/
Valve adjuster screw lock nuts are tight.
Timing slipping would be the cam chain slipping?
Valves did not leak when properly tested tonight. PJ, that shine in pic 42 is the metal glaring. It's not shiny elsewhere because it's covered in carbon, but the carbon seems to have been knocked of sometime right there.
Do those pistons look OK?
Commence the vigorous head-to-desk motions. I just realized that I need to pour the gas in the intake or exhaust ports, not on top by the springs. That should work A LOT better...
Couldn't figure out how to get gas to stay on top of the valves and not just get the whole combustion chamber wet, but when I turned it over it held gas in the chamber for several minutes.
Piston and rings pics are here: http://mine.axvigs.com/cb360/pistons/
Is it normal for the top part of...
I finally opened my eyes and saw that I could take off the triangular bracket which the top engine bolt attaches too, so the disassembly went pretty easy from there. I took some pictures of the cylinders and one of the spark plugs for you to take a gander at. You should be able to view them...
