Yes I jumped the relay. It would spark with the key on the on position. I will attempt your idea tomorrow.

Gunner, I jumped the relay not the starter motor. By jumping that without it starting would that imply that it's not the cause.

Thanks Bozz. I did infact charge the battery before installing it.

I purchased a new battery and no luck. It was at 12.50v then after a few attempts it dropped to 8.4v I jumped the starter and it'll spark but no luck

We'll today I got it to start. I didn't do anything but pull it out of the garage. I had it hooked up to the Spair battery. I checked it without the jump and the battery was at 10.50. Gunna get her a new battery hopefully it'll solve everything. Thanks !

So today I tried to start it again and the bike was trying to start. It was for a second then shut off. A puff of smoke would shoot out of my k&n pod filter. Weird.

Also when I put the positive side on the battery and the negative on the starter motor I get 0.0

Not battery. Checked that and used a battery not hooked to a car :-X

Just did a quick look around and everything seems to be in good shape What to check with a multimeter? I'm an idiot when it comes to anything electrical . :'(

I will have to check the wires. I used a spare new car battery.

I tried that last night. I noticed little puffs of smoke coming from something near the battery.

So I went out to start the bike since it sat for two months. I charged the battery so I know it's good So what's going on.. It will crank over for maybe 2 seconds then it will make a fast tapping sound. So I will release the start button and it will do it again It has always done this since...
