Side note on a related topic, I'm installing a custom cb550 harness that a friend got from sparck. We are using accel coils with a dyna pulse. I can't find any black/white wires to connect with the coils. How do I get power to the coils this case? I'm only seeing white kill switch Y connection...
Need a good left fork from an '81 750K Custom.
Prefer buying this fork lower alone if possible to keep shipping down.
'81 750F forks in black would work as well, but I would need a matching set.
Not interested in any other years 750 at the moment.
Got '79 750F forks and K8 forks but really...
xb33bsa, thanks again, my buddy will be happy its not blow by, I didn't think that it was.

Black smoke is supposed to indicate over rich fuel mixture but could the stuck valves be what's...

xb33bsa great tips, glad you are on this thread, cheers. Wondering if you have any other general suggestions for valve jobs and diagnoses.
Not too sure how to diagnose it while running. I know that white smoke is an indicator.
I've heard that holding a stethoscope to the engine can help to hear what's going on but you'd have to know what to listen for.
back firing could be a sign of being too lean yes. Could also be stuck valves or valve seals not in sealing anymore. or in the worst case, piston blow by.
My 550 fired up like new as soon as I replaced the points with nos tec points.
You're getting a lot of solid advice. I would do spark plugs...
