it would be FAR easier to use wet sand paper on a fla wood block. i would use wet 400 and keep it wet. aluminium gums paper up rather quickly.

bought an old military aluminium canteen to be used as an oil tank on my RD250. less than $10 and should only cost about $20 to get it ready for oil.
