"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

If it had a 4/2 exhaust would that make it a CB500T?

    1970 Triumph Tiger 650

I'll post a pic tomorrow but I'm trying to decide if I should leave the PRT's chrome or black them out also. There is virtually no chrome left on the bike elsewhere.

    1970 Triumph Tiger 650

Got the cylinders installed and cinched down before realizing I had forgotten to install the tappets in the blocks. So I had to pull it all back down and install them. I've heard how important it was to make sure each tappet goes back in the same place it came out, but in my case the cylinder...

"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Re: "Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week! I saw a black primer GEO Metro yesterday with a huge wing on the roof. I just asked myself, Why?

1973 CB500 Forks size and colouring

I believe the 500 and 550 both use a 35mm fork. Anodizing is a process done to aluminum, so no, you can't anodize the steel fork tubes. Hagon is a very good source for reasonably priced shocks. Your only option for black forks would to be to have them black chrome plated, but it would be very...

    1970 Triumph Tiger 650

I decided to give your way a try as the other was being a PITA. It was way easier this way. Even without wood blocks or anything I was able to get the rings compressed with just my fingers and then lower the cylinder over the pistons, holding it in such a way that I could lower it and hold...

"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Re: "Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week! So taking mufflers off makes them "race pipes"? It can't possibly run ideally with short open pipes like that.

How do you tell the seller his bike is really only worth about $3K, if that much?

I'm with Will and Jackie on that one. Love the clip-ons. All he has to do is turn them upside down and it'll be worth $20K. Should have sold it to the appraiser.

Yup, everything about that bike says Cafe Racer on it.

$500, how is that still for sale?

100% better than any new or used bike you could buy, that's a stretch.

Yup, fucked that bike right up. Doesn't even list what year it is. Header wrap looks like shit as does that hideous seat arrangement. The Buell is a pretty good looking bike stock, this guy just went backwards on everything he did to it. The "head turning" he refers to are the people who look at...

    1970 Triumph Tiger 650

Ideally I would liked to have had the caliper in the 2:00 position in front of the shock. But due to the caliper mounting plate being right against the axle slot plate and the swing arm tubing being wider it just couldn't work there, bummer.

    1970 Triumph Tiger 650

If you look at the bottom pic in the last post you will see there is a gap on the upper right caliper bolt to the bracket. The heim will go in that space and be at the outer most mechanical moment. I want as much of the pattern of the Kimtabs to shows as possible. By mounting the caliper next to...

    1970 Triumph Tiger 650

A little more progress. Got the custom made rotor carrier back, thanks to Slikwilli for knocking that out for me. I don't like the routing of the brake line with the 90° fitting on the caliper, so I might have the custom brake line made with another 90° fitting to lessen the exposure of...
