EGLI frame, TR1 engine, build from scratch

This was a true build project, not merely an assembly of parts. Always my "go to" read. It would nice to see the final edition. I'm sure the bike will have been completed it was too close not to. The other interesting item it was to be put to the test on the track, Spa no less. Cheers, 50gary

    1972 DS7 The Row Boat

Re: 1972 DS7 The Long Road- The Un-Cafe Facile humor; Instead of the Un-cafe it could now simply be Decaf. I like The "Un-cafe" just yesterday I told a friend how it sucks to be "un-rich" Cheers, 50gary

    CR500 , 2 stroke hardtail chopper project

I'ts cool, over the top and a spoof on Choppers IMO. I'm gathering parts for a bar-hopper but I know I'm not in this league, go baby go. Gear it for the hole shot semi-drag bike. Cheers, 50gary

"Animal's" Legacy of Brutality, TT500 chop

How wide is the tank tunnel, and how wide is the top tube? Perhaps you could cut out the top tube and replace it with a narrow width but deep section rectangular tube to maintain strength. Might work with the right sizes and wall thickness. Oval tubing is available if you search. Cheers, 50gary

    1972 DS7 The Row Boat

Re: 1972 DS7 The Long Road- The Un-Cafe The pipe is an every day FMF Fatty Gold Series for a YZ250 moto-X pipe that I'm "re-directing" Noble experiment, if it doesn't work Then I'll make one from scratch. I've also had a thought that the power delivery for cafe/track bike may be quite...

    1972 DS7 The Row Boat

Re: 1972 DS7 The Long Road- The Un-Cafe I'm looking at that same dilemma, a low pipe on my project. The pipe (250 FMF Fatty,) it's so fat and I have a linked mono-shock. We'll see how creative this will turn out to be? Your bike look's cool, hang in there. Cheers, 50gary

My Suzi T500 Project *It's Alive Video*

Re: My Suzi T500 Project (Finished Video & Pics!) John, what is the final weight of the bike I'd be interested to know? If you know of a race car garage or someone that has a set of real weight scales I'd scale the bike alone and with you on it in your track day gear. That way you'll know...

    69 CB350 - Modern Suzuki Front | Ducati Rear - Cognito Moto

I would use just the single caliper and rotor up front. Save a lot of weight and rotating weight. In the rear I would run a near vertical tube from the sub-frame down to the horizontal swingarm support tube. Vintage XS650 Yams. (racing) have a similar town tube problem and can crack the frame...

    Suzuki gsx 1100e caferacer build

You can kick a$$ on that Kawasaki no problem. Keep the original tank it's way nice. That engine will pull so strong if you dial it in. I love these GS bikes 16 valves to go. Lose the weight for sure but also move the weight to the center and forward. I would try to make it look small even...

    BMW R80 cafe..with vid page 6!

It's funny that you mention the redux of certain older bikes by the Japanese companies. When building the CX I had the goal of making the bike like a factory upgrade rather than a wild custom. That's why I kept the keynote items like the Comstars, side covers, and tank. Can you imagine how...

    BMW R80 cafe..with vid page 6!

Yeah, I like the Comstars, the original steel spokes are the ones. The reverse are aluminum and fugly. I wanted slightly wider and 18" The comstars are an integral part of the CX look IMO. You can see the gold rotor adapter which I designed and a friend CNC milled (not cheap) We also CNC the...

    BMW R80 cafe..with vid page 6!

Needs a paint job that's for sure. Lot's of mods, rear disc brake re-valved/sprung ZRX shocks, GSXR front end 18" x 2.15" Comstar that I made from parts, Conti Go tires, flat slides, etc. Fun bike that eliminates the weak points of the CX500 mainly rubber forks and no brakes. English tax disc...

So what's the deal with the chunky dual sport tires on cafe/trackers builds?

Catherham = Tonka toy HiWB is too funny. Reminds me of early BSNYC before he became famous. I too may have to adopt a disinterested urban edginess, these works boots make it difficult to shift my pre-unit Triumph. Alpha Dog if it were the perfect analogy (and it was) you wouldn't have to...

    BMW R80 cafe..with vid page 6!

Those are really good pipes I put a set on my Dad's CX500 and they sounded so good I bought a bunch of them and sold about 10 sets to Honda owners. Great quality and with a 1.75" inlet they fit a bunch of bikes. Love your BM. I have an old R50/2 1967 Earles forks old school. Cheers, 50gary

74 CB750 USD and Mono build

Okay, so you get two inches of travel at the axle for one inch of travel at the shock? I have a low mount linked mono that is 2.5" axle to 1" of shock just mentioning for the info/comparison. Cheers, 50gary

74 CB750 USD and Mono build

That's not what I imagined for your mono-shock? Question, why are all the linked connections adjustable? Cheers, 50gary

    GS1000 budget build

GS1K is one of my favs. a workhorse and dead reliable. A low pressure motor that will always bring you home. As far as the shaft drive hey, BMW's are such and many make cafe bikes from them. Interesting so far keep it up. Cheers, 50gary
