Not meaningful work done lately, been overly busy finishing up a much larger build (my house hahaha) once it's complete I will be going full steam on this. I did pick up a few components to help in my design of the swingarm, and my jig arrived, I just have to pick up the tubing for it.
Hahahahaha love it. I haven't seen a good music joke in years.
I spent at lot of time on my lathe yesterday, managed to get the front wheel situated. For anyone interested, a 1971 cb750 rear axle fits a ducati 998 front end perfectly, and its the right 20mm diameter I needed for the kx250f...
Heh, i do it by ear actually. Once I have everything torqued i tap each spoke and check the sound. Getting the pitch right usually gets the wheels true, minus a couple of tweeks. Ive had it put it perfectly true on more than once occasion. Ive thought about figuring out the note and using a...
Both sets cross, just at different points, i really didnt pay attention when i did it, just put them where they line up lol. A more fun thing to ask about is how i tune the pitch of the spokes to true them. ;D
I have to take photos of everything and put it up here. Heres the rims with the rear laced. I ordered matching spokes for the front wheel, will have that laced next week. Im going to be making a big push on a different bike next week, but i will at least get everything layed out for this one...
Long story short, i picked up excel 18×2.15 rims new for 70 each that were drilled of them. I will end up with the hubs, rotors, spokes, and rims, costing only 500.
Well i stopped fuckin around and ordered a jig. I also picked out wheels. Its a long story but im using kx250f hubs with excel 18x2.15 rims. At this point its 100% im using the monster motor, so it will be light and fast for what it is
Haven't spoken to him in a year, something to do with him owing me money. I'd say it's 50 50 odds. He once tried to convince me his welds were fine by taking a steel plate and tube, welding them together, then hitting it with a sledge hammer. When the tube went flying across the yard in the...
Well this just took a violent left turn. While I do want a different frame for my 160, through a series of semi logical events, I'm going to use my m750 motor for this instead. The short of it is I wound up with different wheels, and at this point all I need is a seat and tank to have an entire...
Hahahaha yeah that's custom alright. There's some welds on instagram that'll make your jaw drop. I can actually lay a very pretty mig weld, which does pretty much nothing for the strength of the weld, but it look s almost like a tig, which saves time grinding :P
Got some lathe time in last night, and figured out exactly how to make the parts of the neck with a little trial and error. Now that the error is out of the way, I will finish up the parts tonight. Should look pretty awesome for a neck.
Since i promised photos, heres the ducati front end im using.
Yup, this is evolution all right. Spent a little time on the lathe, but got cut short. Once I get a couple more hours in I'll get some pretty photos on here. At the risk of being ridiculous, I think i'm going to use the overkill spare 998 front end I have, and make the needed parts to run it...
