    home brew cable shortening

Some great tricks mentioned here, however cables don't always fail in the garage or driveway. So I machined some quick repair furrels for roadside emergency repairs. I bought 1/4" brass round bar and cut several furrels and drilled and tapped them for 8-32 grub screws and then cross-drilled...

    Just say no to d-rings

In Ontario, Canada you cannot modify the helmet strap closure mechanism in any way, or substitute for other closure types. Doing so will get you a ticket for non-certified helmet. :(

    A Kiwi build from scratch

Just a question, what does the motor weigh compared to the original motor that came with the rear suspension and front suspension? Looking at the ground clearance of the frame I would worry that the center of gravity is going to be very top heavy. And last comment the neck will need a bracing...

CB450 Build "Well It's About Time"

Having constructed a '71 CB450 a while back I know you are going to run into clearance issues with that hoop in that position. The rear wheel on a 450 rides up in between the rear frame rails where the shock mounting point are located. That's why there was a frame arch back behind that point...

CB450 Build "Well It's About Time"

Drill a hole through the frame and hoop to spot weld the pig (inner tube/slug) in place then have the welder run a bead on both sides of the gaps and then a filler weld between the first two welds and it will be as strong as the original frame, even stronger. ;)

    CB450 Carb Issue

You also have to realize that if your cylinder compression ratio's are not indentical then the draw factor on the carbs will be different and therefore the mixture settings and throttle positions will be different on each carb. I use a manometer on each carb and an infrared thermometer on the...

what the heck is this bolt for?

Taking the mirrors out and leaving a hole can depending on the angle of the lever controls cause the wind to whistle over the empty hole as you ride. PO may have had an issue with that, or just wanted to keep water out, especially if they lived somewhere cold enough where water would freeze...
