FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

Wow, looking good Phillip. According to Partzilla, those bolts are 6x40, but you might want to double check that.

That looks really nice just with the painted stripe on the polished alloy, sweet.

    CB450 Tracker

Thanks, yes I did make the headlight brackets. The brackets themselves were easy, the clamps that hold them onto the forks were a little more difficult...

Thanks very much. The mill is a knee mill with a CNC conversion on it so it can do curves, it just requires a lot of manual input. I dropped them off this morning (Anthony Gunter is doing them, for anyone that used to watch Aussie Motocross) so I'll see how they come back, worst case is I paint...

    CB450 Tracker

Thank you. The weather isn't too good here at the moment so instead of painting I decided to pull the motor apart. I removed the stator and then went to the other side and found I did not have a tool for removing the oil slinger, so I spent an hour making one up. I milled the slots out and then...

has anyone gotten the dt250 engine to work

I've got a '74 YZ250 in a Maico frame that I race on flattrack. It's running on methanol, has a trick cylinder I ported myself, a homebuilt pipe, 38mm Mikuni carb, electronic ignition with a YZ85 black box, just to name but a few things, and is almost as quick as a current model YZ250. It...

    CB450 Tracker

I now have a rolling chassis. I need to finish the tank and seat and then I can rebuild the motor and install it, then do all the wiring. Not too much left now.

has anyone gotten the dt250 engine to work

Find a yz250 motor the same model and swap all the bits out - lighter crank, c/r gearbox, straight cut primary gears, ported cylinder, centre plug cylinder head etc. Build an expansion chamber, squish the head and you have an instant rocket ship.

FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

He's definitely got the talent, that's for sure. A CNC machine would make life really easy for him, he can put the indexing head away for a start haha.

    CB450 Tracker

Thank you very much. Got some of the frame assembled today, forks in, swing arm and shocks in, handlebars on etc. I am still prepping the seat and tank for final spraying, then I have to rebuild the engine, but that's not a big deal. Hopefully I can get it close to finished before I have to go...

    CB450 Tracker

Got my seat colour coated in Commodore sting red. I now need to rub it back and then stripe it in orange with white pinlines and then clear over the top. I still need to finish a couple of repairs to the tank and then I can do the same with it. I also painted the frame in black enamel, and it...

Huh, never really thought about that Steve. I talked my brother but he's still keen on a nice gloss black.

    CB450 Tracker

Well today was a shit day. The 2k paint I bought was faulty, the seller offered me a refund but that doesn't help me get my frame painted. I think I'll just go and get some 2 pak black and spray it properly. The spray can just spat out a bunch of dry paint...

Hey Brodie, I think Staintune make mufflers for your bike, probably worth a call if you're interested.

Thanks goodoltup, but you are doing a great job on your bike, I doubt you'll need anything from me.

    CB450 Tracker

Thanks very much. Got my frame and seat primed today, hopefully I can put the topcoat on the frame tomorrow. The seat will have to wait another day or two as I want to do the tank at the same time, considering they both need to be striped as well. They will be Commodore red hot colour, but I've...

    CB450 Tracker

Well, finally back home and got the seat sitting in place to see how it looks. Not too bad, I reckon I can now get the frame painted and start on the reassembly, which will be good.

    Project CB690 (KTM 690 engine in a CB550f frame)

You've probably thought of this already, but you will really need a good jig (or the swing arm) in place before you finish welding up the swing arm pivot brackets. Great work on the project though, can't wait to see it finished.
