Got out for a few miles. Had one rattle from a breather that hit a new bracket for the ignition. Sorted that and got a few more miles. No issues with the rear fender other than that I do have to be careful exiting the driveway or I scrape. Have not found a speedbump yet, I might have to go...

I found that boots that fit on the shift linkage also will fit on the rod end bearings I used on the brake arm stay

Test today to see if I can get down the driveway without scraping the tail.

Turning out small details. The spacers under the brake aluminum brake brackets were simple cylinders, I turned a little cove into them. The trim rings under the bars were basically stainless washers. I made new ones a tiny bit bigger in diameter (to adequately cover countersinks below) and...

Here's what I did. Lucky the cable hides my welds. Lap joint of 0.035 on to 11g tubing was a challenge to make pretty.

I think I may have answered my own question. My bars are stainless so welding to them is an option. Two alternatives pictured here on a scrap of mild steel the same OD as my bars with a scrap of gas line representing the electric harness. One with the strap more or less centered on the bar...

Parallel to the hard edge of the bottom of the tail is number one for me. Where you started with it parallel to the frame rail is a close second. The somewhere in between option would require some strong parallel graphics on the tank to work for me.

Thanks for the input. That's the direction I headed. I made these of stainless so they can be polished up. Here's a few pics along the way.

Two cap designs. The original is on the right. The new idea is on the left. I will make them all the same when I'm happy with the design. I'm thinking polished stainless. Opinions on left or right?

Thanks! I was happy to see they didn't vibrate much either when I fired up the engine.

Now the right side. I tried to place the mirrors relative to the bars about the same. But because the connection to the bars are positioned differently the mounting brackets are quite a bit different. The mirrors clear the tank by about 1/2 inch when the steering hits the stops.

Working on mirrors. I decided to use the stock mounts but make brackets that undermount the mirrors. Left side complete. All stainless same as the bars. It took more time to make and test the bender than it did to make the bends but now I have a nice little bender.

Thanks, had to look up sharkhide. I might black it all out as its seems kind of busy.

Thanks for the input on paint. It gives me some good ideas to think about. I'll try to sketch up some concepts and post them later. Working out some details. I didn't like the brake adapter I originally made so I made a different one. Aluminum rather than steel. First pic is the old one, I...

You've got my interest. Two tone on the body work? Or body work one color and frame the other?

I'm open to ideas on paint scheme. I have some idea but paint colors have never been confident in this area. Got any suggestions?
