    FZ600 resto-rescue?

I’ve been fighting the carb boots on this bike since I got it. They aren’t too hard or brittle, but they are cracked up pretty good. I tried some silicon sealant for a temp fix, but it failed quickly. I did a bunch of part number searching, and found that part numbers for seca 550 boots are...

il Crustico - '73 Moto Guzzi Eldorado Basket case Restoration

The single is the one I’d be interested in. Supposedly very reliable. I just can’t get on board with the 500+ lb “adv” bikes. Totally cool for road touring, but no way I’d take one off road beyond a well kept gravel road. That’s the appeal of the 650 to me, 420 wet (supposedly) I’d feel ok at...

il Crustico - '73 Moto Guzzi Eldorado Basket case Restoration

How do you like the f650? I’ve been looking at maybe getting a f650gs Dakar when I get out of school. The Dakar model is quite different I think than yours, but the base bike is similar I think. Seems like a decent option for a not too crazy heavy adv? Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

    1975 Yamaha RD350(LC) Preservation-mod Hellride

Epoxy liner in the fiberglass tank perhaps? If you could get some abrasion on the inside of that tank I would have to imagine something like the caswell liner would stick pretty well and stop any weeping? Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

My moto-genie stopped by on his way through town a couple weeks ago and left me some treats, thanks again Ken! Got some inverted kawi forks, we thought off of a zx6r but I believe they came off of a zx7, along with the accompanying wheel. This should be a really nice front end setup, and I...

    2002 Jeep TJ "Baa Baa"

That’s a cool little rig man. I always thought a TJ would be fun. Would love to chop one in half someday and make a little pickup. Single cab, maybe a 6” bed so it’s usable and has some more wheelbase for the trail, what the new glads should have been if you ask me. Maybe even a tdi or Mercedes...

CL200, Carb boot issues / is this good to run?

I wouldn’t worry about it. Probably came from the factory like that. You have to remember that we’re talking about 50 year old manufacturing methods, things like that won’t always be perfect. As long as it seals well and doesn’t leak, run it! Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

So it turns out all I needed to fix the front brakes on my Japanese sport bike was a set of English bike brakes… yea that makes sense. I did some digging and found out that Yamaha used 83mm bolt spacing on these bikes for the calipers, which was kind of the end of the line for that spacing...

    1971 cl100

I am still picking away at a parts list for this bike. I do think I could do the 200 swap, but would likely require splitting cases on that engine, so at that point I might just do a case split on the 100 engine and swap a 125 crank in if I can find one and then still retain the original engine...

I should be in town that weekend, but if not no worries at all, we can find a time to connect at some point! Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

I thought I had read that zx bearings were 35mm ID. Maybe I’m wrong though. I can’t seem to find any 35x48 bearings if that does turn out to be the case, but I may be able to swap stems though. No matter really though, most of the stuff left on this is pretty long term as it’s all rather...

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

You’ve got a deal. If you don’t end up this way at some point I’ll have to bring the bike back down so you can see the old stag. Did you find a bearing set to make the zx forks bolt up to the fz stem? Or were you thinking stem bolt swap? Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

Guess so. Looks like next time I’m in your neck of the woods Ken I’ll have to swing by again. It’s like having a fairy godparent but for motorcycles

    '78 KZ400

Happened to me the other day too. Had too small of a battery in for a test ride, forgot to turn the fuel on after I stopped at a buddies, battery didn’t have enough juice to fire up again, had to give it a shove home. I just call it the workout for the week Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

I’m fully in agreement with that statement, as I really do want to go to a 17” front wheel as well, and modern forks would be very nice, but I’m playing the long game a bit here. If the bike pans out to be a strong runner and solid platform, it will most likely see something like an r6 front...

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

Going to test the stock brakes again tonight after I do some cleanup, however I think I have a plan for what I want in terms of from brakes eventually. I plan to do braided lines, with r6/r1/various other model calipers. My understanding is that the fzr caliper bolt pattern is different than the...

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

Interesting, I’ll have to dig more into that, though an adapter plate probably wouldn’t be too complicated. I may just end up getting rebuild kits too for mine but if there’s an upgrade that also solves my issues, I’d rather do that. I would like to get new braided lines, and I think the easiest...

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

Haha I’m sure it is but 125 for 6 feet of brake line and some fittings feels like a lot in the grand scheme of things. I also found out that I can’t actually get a lot of the stainless kits made for this bike in the states without excessive shipping cost. I did take a closer look at the calipers...

    FZ600 resto-rescue?

Same piston bore as original, as far as I am aware at least based on info online. It’s a 14mm. I have a second set of lines that you sent with it that I may attempt to clean and try those as well, just to see what happens. I would really like to do stainless but they’re rather expensive. Around...
