    1980 Suzuki GN400 - cafe conversion

130 rear tyre is going to be too wide unless you get WM4 or wider rear rim, a narrower tyre on wider rim is more stable The axle in front of fork was to reduce trail. You'll probably have to do a search for recommended tyre size and rim width, I haven't posted the chart in probably 12 years and...

    '75 GL1000 - "Pete"

I liked the early GL1000. The rumors of it being designed as a light helicopter engine, the way it revved out instead of 'going flat' 125mph in third gear (and 4th/5th, too wide to go faster so rpm was lower at same speed :p)

Need to see a 1980 Suzuki GN400 headtube tag

No Problem, it will probably take a few days to see what (if any) information I still have kicking around, I still have some service manuals after there was a 'clear out' of obsolete stuff . Main difference between the trail 370/400 and 'custom' 400 was carb switched to CV and electronic...

Need to see a 1980 Suzuki GN400 headtube tag

Worked at Suzuki dealers when they were a current model and taught Suzuki at MMI . Not sure if I have the info on a CD or thumb drive any longer though as I was more into the DR/SP as I had both at one time. Best bike I ever had for doing low speed wheelies was the SP370 which had basically the...

    Ton up SR250: 100mph, 100kg, 30hp

was your speed testing done with the bike set up as in picture? (img_0900) or did you have lower bars on it? It won't look as good but some alloy or even steel sheet filling in the triangle to rear shock will give better aerodynamics, plus a degree of 'ram air' if you get it right

Is this rare 1968-69 Honda CB450 K1 Tank savable??

Find someone who does 'leading' on cars and it's repairable. Lead doesn't rust and is low temperature unlike brazing. Suzuki actually soldered the tank and oil filler caps into RG125 tanks in the 80's so it's a valid fix

Arriving ignorant, hope to learn a lot

The 250 Nighthawk and Rebel are not particularly sought after bikes so should be able to get a matched pair at a reasonable price. They do have a pretty good following and there are various custom parts available (I'm only aware of it because of a friend who had one, he bought a bigger bike and...

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get an outer starter clutch for a 1974 CB360?

Lot's of people have removed electric starter from 360's so there should be hundreds of them out there. Pretty sure I have a couple on the shelf if you get stuck

    1975 Yamaha RD350(LC) Preservation-mod Hellride

Did a ton of modifications to 350 LC's in the 80's to 90's, almost all using stock parts and keeping things mostly streetable to get a bit better mileage before re-build. After 40+ years I've forgotten just about everything though but do remember spending time flowing reed blocks made them...

Cam chain link for ‘73 Yamaha TX500

The XS500 I looked at a few years ago had a duplex cam chain but I think it was 219 pin spacing? Back in the early 80's, I remember my cousins husband bought every one he could find locally for parts, had one runner and another four or five to keep it running

Hello from Oklahoma. New member just finished 1975 CB360t full restoration

Sorry to hear about your cancer but really glad 'the red head stepchild' of a Honda helped you get through it. The 250/360 is actually one of my favourite bikes in any of it's forms (CB/CJ) (any Suzuki with SACS motor is another) I've done a lot of work on them over the last 30-40 years. You may...

CB360 Mikuni carb conversion throttle cable hookup.

Don't use stock Honda cable routing, run cables down left side of frame then between top engine plates for right carb IIRC, the carb tops are too close to tank and need a metal tube to work properly, I made some from 1/8" brake tubing as 'stock' 90 degree bend was too 'open' It's part of the...

Gt380 restrictor in middle header pipe

Germany was going to have a 400cc/40bhp class for beginners but I don't know if it ever happened? Suzuki would have preempted the government by a few years though as I think the engine capacity wasn't an issue just the power rating?

A Benchmaster Milling Machine Non Restoration

Hi Dennis, we are finally back in house after 6 months. Still no AC in living room or kitchen but they should be doing it next week. (maybe, contractors haven't been too reliable) Ton of stuff still in boxes

An Atlas Craftsman 6" Lathe Non Restoration

Hi Dennis, We turned off services and saved $200 a month. Spectrum (Charter Communications) are a bunch of greedy robbers. Had internet, phone and cable back on yesterday so I did a speed test using Spectrum. (after almost six months being stuck in hotels we finally have a date to return home...

    1964-1966 Honda Super Cub

I started riding on those in 1968. Amazing that as a schoolboy I could get 2¬3 yr old bikes but as an adult my newest bike now is from 1995 When you over rev them the pushrods bend but are easily straightened out with a couple of house bricks

    The 'leftovers' project - XS650

Is that a Mikes XS fork brace? I stared an XS project about the same time as you but got caught up playing with CB360's and never got back to it. Now, it's going to need new tyres again after standing 20 years:rolleyes:
