FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

Yeah no reason to think the R/R they include isn’t up to snuff! Just saying that being able to run a lithium battery doesn’t have to cost 500 bucks. A quality R/R for something like $120 new would work just as well. The cycle x system is lighter, which is nice, but unless the current stator is...

The SH775 (if you can find a genuine one) is a great R/R. Think I saw a YouTube video from Revivalcycles about them selling a new Series R/R specially made for them, looks very similar to the SH775 but guaranteed genuine. Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

I’m not an expert but from what I understand the cycle x kit is a permanent magnet solution, same as on older British bikes. Not convinced that’s an upgrade? A modern R/R is a good idea when running lithium battery though. Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

Nothing dramatic with the wiring. Ditching some stuff (fuel level, gear indicator), relocating some (ignition under the seat) and replacing R/R. Read about a mod to run stator directly to R/R rather than through head lamp switch and R/R output directly to battery (inline fuse). The stator to R/R...

I hear Sharkhide works great on bolts as well. Always tempting to attack old cruddy bolts with the wire wheel and make them shiny, but unless plating them they start to rust pretty quickly. Check out @ditstang on Insta, he polishes everything and uses Sharkhide to keep it looking good. Just wish...

I’ve been pretty terrible at updating here, but although going has been slow I’ve not been idle. Swinger, forks and wheels are on - we got ourselves a roller! Next up is sorting out handlebar controls and headlight mounts so I can get started on the wiring. Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

Over on this side of the pond 25 years old means “veteran” - which means exempt from tax and really cheap insurance without any limitations or restrictions. At 40 years old they also get exempt from the standard bi-yearly inspection (where inspection people tell you that you can’t have loud...

Fantastic workmanship as usual! The little clamp with the rubber holding the brake line is neat, need to find some of those. Don’t forget the cover for the bleed nipple :) Carbs look fantastic too. Looking forward to seeing them on with the K&Ns Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

Hell yeah, that’s gonna look awesome! Really like the re-interpretation of the colored lines and the frankenhonda is a really nice touch :) I haven’t painted over decals myself, but I do believe you want to cover them in several layers of clear to ensure no edges are showing. Don’t skimp on the...

FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

The constant gotcha moments of custom building :) Nice work on the turn signal install! Rearsets and linkage look really good. Does heating aluminum enough to bend affect it strength wise? Not that pushing the gear position up and down is a lot of force, just curious. Sent from my iPhone...

Brake disassembly. Really gunky ‘brake fluid’ but everything seems in good shape - including pistons and rubbers. Started cleaning up the rear (leftmost one). Sent from my iPhone using DO THE TON

Did you uppgrade the rect/reg when switching to a Lithium battery? I know many upgrade those regardless, and especially when using Lithium batteries to avoid toasting the battery. Seems to be a bigger problem on the bigger capacity GSes though. I’m on the fence about it doing it for my...
