    Exhaust Leak Fix

Alright, so I have an exhaust leak on the bottom of one of my pipes. It's just an old pipe that needs to be replaced but I don't have the cash for that right now. What could be a cheap and quick temporary fix until I can scrape up the money to buy a new pipe? It's a small hole that's about 7mm...

Anyone ever try one of these helmets?

I like that helmet. I was actually choosing between that one, the Custom 500 from Bell and one from Nexx.

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Yeah, I was feeling it would more of a temporary fix until I can actually get real parts. Also found an exhaust leak today, yay! Hopefully the bike will be running well by the end of the day.

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Update: Synchronized the carbs today, they needed it. Still reving high and I found where the leaks are. Air is coming in from the space between where the boots attach to the engine head. So I either need new gaskets or new boots. Would a high temp silicon gasket maker like Permatex work? Or no...

Anyone ever try one of these helmets?

Just go with a Bell Custom 500. For the money, you can't beat it. I think they're the best 3/4's out there. And they look great for the vintage stuff. For full face, Bell Vortex or better. Anything SNELL really. But the Vortex is the cheapest in that area. ACTUALLY, I'm wrong. HJC came out...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

I think it's the right cylinder (when you're sitting on the bike) that is acting up. The fuel line, filter and petcock are all clear. I did clear all the passageways in the carbs with compressed air when I took them off the first time. From what everyone has told me, I'm pretty sure it's...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Both of the cylinders are firing but it seems that the 2nd cylinder is the one that is causing the high revs. I let it run some again just a couple minutes ago and noticed some white smoke coming out of the 2nd cylinder exhaust. It'll start at 1,200 and then go to 3,000 and go back to 1,200 if I...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Update: I went out today and looked at the bike. I noticed that I had put the choke cable on too tight. It held it at half choke permanently, so I fixed that, now it's completely opened. I also noticed that I hadn't set the carbs quite right in place so I fixed that as well. It sounds better but...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

The throttle closes but the revs stick in the 4k range. It's almost like the carburetors get stuck open, even after the throttle "closes." I think it's a combination of the carbs still having some gunk in them and sync being off. I have some vacuum gauges coming in soon from DCC so I'll check it...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

The throttle itself snaps shut like its supposed to. It takes the bike a second or two to catch up with it. Or it doesn't at all and stays at the high RPMs. There are no mods, completely stock bike.

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Yes, it's fine. I took off the carbs and cleaned them up, they weren't too bad but there was some gunk. I put them back together and back on the bike and now its really acting up. It idles fine until you touch the throttle and then it will jump to 3.5k or 4k and stay there for awhile and then...

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Thanks, I did download that. I got the idle to 1,200ish and it started acting up. It will randomly rev itself up to around 3k and start misfiring some. Could the carbs being out of sync or am I dealing with something much worse?

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

Sweet, thanks a lot. I bought this bike to learn on and it will be a fun and long process.

Engine dle speed too slow. Why?

So I recently bought a cb400t and the idle speed is way too slow. It will stall out while braking if you're not twisting the throttle. Any ideas what could be causing this? And if so, what are the solutions? I plan on taking the carbs off tomorrow for a good cleaning as the bike has been sitting...

1978 Honda CB400T Hawk: What should I do with it?!

I agree completely, I don't feel comfortable paying that much for something so far away. And cool, they look good. I'm debating between something like those or small circles like the bullet ones

1978 Honda CB400T Hawk: What should I do with it?!

There is a company the sells modified seat pans with cafe-ish looking seats on ebay. They're expensive though, like almost $325 after shipping. Search "CB400t cafe seat" and they're on the first page somewhere

That's cool, it looks good. Maritime, that's a good idea. I might be borrowing that from you. Thanks guys!
