    VF500 Starting Issue

Awesome. I'm trying to decide whether to start with carbs or electronics. I cleaned the carbs so I'm just not sure how much further to go. HOWEVER, leaving it overnight with the carbs drained and the petcock off resulted in it completely not starting at all!

    VF500 Starting Issue

I believe I am. I'll check all 4 plugs today first, and see how the spark is.

Judging by this you believe it's electrical?

    VF500 Starting Issue

Also heard that it could be CDI related. Any input on testing that?

    VF500 Starting Issue

SO: I took off the air box and fired it up. I was seeing the slides bob up and down and seeing what appeared to be fuel coming up the jets near the needles, so I'm prettttyyyy sure it's getting fuel. Would the vacuum tube issue stop fuel from coming up the jets or just stop it from getting to...

    VF500 Starting Issue

Hey all, Just got a VF500 and I'm having the oddest issue. The bike turns over fine, gets a solid spark (red not blue, but solid all the same) and will turn over once, but then not turn over again until I let it sit for quite a while (30 minutes plus). I cleaned the carbs and they were...

    CB350 Pamco Ignition System Troubleshooting

:D I know. I didn't power it up after seeing the water, until I'd taken it apart and dried it like crazy. Is this Murray?

    Spark Plug Wire Gauge

Actually, I've used the cloth-wrapped stuff before and they seal it, so it functions the same :) Anybody know what the standard gauge on vintage bikes is for the primary wire? Obvs bigger is always better, but I'm not gonna use battery straps to wire my tail light :P

    CB350 Pamco Ignition System Troubleshooting

Yep. Took it all apart, and sat it in front of a hair dryer for a while (not too close, and not on the hottest setting!), and then put it back together. Turns out me running it with all that water in the electronics tray caused a ton of misfiring still, but didn't break the ignition. It DID foul...

    Spark Plug Wire Gauge

Hey All! What gauge wire should we be using for our plug wire? I'm considering picking up a roll of this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Cloth-Braided-Primary-Wire-Tracers/dp/B00B1WOYHG/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t I figure I don't need 10 gauge 'cause this isn't a car (CB350, CB450, and CX500). Is 12...

    CB350 Pamco Ignition System Troubleshooting

Good to know. I'm gonna diagnose further. The circuit board looks fine. Looks like the right side plug was completely fouled. Cleaned that up and the right side is firing now, but is backfiring quite a bit. Might just need to be run a bit, but I also have new plugs I'm going to put in.

    CB350 Pamco Ignition System Troubleshooting

Ah shoot. I'm loving the electronic ignition. What were your symptoms of burning them out? I'm getting some spark on the right side as well, but it's backfiring like mad. Wondering if that's a symptom of something else or if the ignition is misfiring.

    CB350 Pamco Ignition System Troubleshooting

Ah yes, that was already resolved in my head but it's a good idea to check. Carb definitely has fuel, there's definitely suction, and the carbs (round-slide, not cv) are lifting properly. Bike also ran great 2 weeks ago, and I use low ethanol fuel from a independent gas station, so I very much...

    CB350 Pamco Ignition System Troubleshooting

What would switching the plug wires show? If it was something up with the plugs? One option I'm realizing would be to switch the wires going from the ignition to the coils.

How to Title a Bike the Right Way

Yep! Easy peasy! Sorry to revive a dead post, but this should be stickied! Easiest way to get a cheap bike. You can get about $400 off for lack of title.
