It is tough to not do the same. The only thing really making me take my time is the weather and the fact I don't want to do it again when I rush the first time. I am anxious to start buying cool stuff instead of doing the boring things like this.
I plan on using it for my frame, swinger and rims as well. It is a little salty per can, but whats a few more dollars if it comes out the way you wanted.
I agree. A lot of guys use the JD muffler paint on Vance and Hines heat shields as an alternative to powder coating. They say it holds up great and doesn't fade with use. I am anxious to see how well it holds the deep black hue on my cases. Even more interested in the longevity of the finish...
Also, that paint is the only black I will use, hate rattle can gloss and anything that is more matte than this is to much for me. Plus, I can never get any other brand to dry as quick and thorough as this John Deere Blitz Black.
Put the speedo drive side of the axle in the vice + propane torch for some motivation on the threaded side = axle in two pieces and removed out of the side with the speedo drive.
Took the forks off this week and repainted the lowers. Replacing the seals and fluid while I am in there.
Looking good! John Deere Blitz Black does wonders!
Got the tank stripped and I am considering not using any paint. I have worked with this 3M vinyl before and it is amazing what you can pull off with some knifeless tape and a heat gun!
Thinking OD green, brushed titanium and red pinstripe for a color scheme.
The crank bearing and rod bearings were shot. Luckily it didn't get into the crank so I was able to polish the journals a bit on the lathe. All of the valves were smoked and mushroomed where the keepers lay. I am working out a deal for full port work, Serdi valve job and some other goodies :)
