1977 CB550 SS complete engine rebuild....going to need help I think...

I installed everything into the bottom case and then placed the top case on it. I felt that it was the easiest method when I ran through it. But definitely figure out what works best for you and stick with that. That kickstarter is somewhat annoying to install. I remember messing with the...

1977 CB550 SS complete engine rebuild....going to need help I think...

I used the Three Bond 1194 to seal the cases. I believe it's the same product as hondabond or yamabond. You shouldn't need to apply any of the hondabond to the oil seals. The Three Bond liquid gasket starts to get tacky pretty quick. I would say you have about 10-15 minutes to get the case...

I ended up reusing the primary chain since there wasnt much slack. I did get a new timing chain though. I painted the cases separately. Let me know if there is something you need. If I get a moment this weekend, I'll IM you a list of some of the stuff that I have left over.

1977 CB550 SS complete engine rebuild....going to need help I think...

I'm still in the process of building my cb550 engine but it's stalled since we had a baby. But let me know if you have any specific questions. I basically replaced every bolt, washer, nut, bearing, etc. that I could find a replacement for as I reassembled it. So it's still somewhat fresh in my...

    CB550 front brake help...

before you go off rebuilding the master cylinder or the caliper, try this... check the brake caliper bracket. it's bolted to the fork with 3 bolts and that bracket should pivot and swing freely. if it doesn't, if could cause squealing and some drag. looks like this...

    CB550 engine/oil pan clearance??

I currently do not have the engine mounted in my CB550 frame and I was wondering if someone could provide me a picture and/or measurement between the engine/oil pan area and the bottom left side of the frame. I'm looking weld in a modern kickstand bracket which has the spring on the backside of...

general questions about making a wiring harness from scratch

Ok cool, so maybe I'm just over thinking the whole fuse question. So the kill switch I have is from the handlebars. A second hidden switch sounds like a good idea.

general questions about making a wiring harness from scratch

thanks honda53rider for your reply... So I bought a new Honda right-hand control for my 550 which has the off/run/off switch. And that switch is depicted at the top of the diagram. It will cut power to everything including the RFID module and the 611T relay so it doesn't leak power. The start...

general questions about making a wiring harness from scratch

I am in the process of making a new wiring harness for my CB550. I plan to use an RFID module along with a DEI 611T latching relay (keyless setup). Without going into the specifics of how the RFID module and the DEI 611T relay works, I had some general questions about my wiring layout. So I...

CB550 Speedometer Gear Box Oil Seal

I thought I would post this info since I didn't find much info about it... I'm in the middle of building a 1976 CB550 and took apart the speedometer gear box to get it cleaned up and powdercoated. Since the parts diagram doesn't show the oil seal as a separate part...I was forced to find one...
