I'm gonna try to do this quickly so I can still ride before winter.

Do you guys have any pics/tips for doing the instrument cluster? I want something smaller and lower.

Get rid of the cluster altogether, and replace it with just the speedo unit (or whatever you need to be legal).

Man, I miss New Mexico.

Not a bad bike to start with, looks fairly clean from the picture. I'm going to subscribe to this thread, I'm doing a 400 as wellhttp://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=5542.0 If you haven't checked it out already, the forum at KZ400.com is incredibly helpful. The folks there have been incredibly helpful to me. Looking forward to what you have in store for the bike.

If your interested in a different exhaust take a look at this set. might fit?

This is how she looked as of Saturday evening. Yesterday I wrapped the other pipe and started on the seat. My sewing machine is sucking but I should have it all finished buy Sunday. I hope.

Jeez buddy; Is Cafe builder your 9 - 5??

I wish. I'm in grad school finishing my dissertation. I usually do school work from 9-5 (with breaks to check Dtt) then back to the garage till 1-2am. I listen to football on the radio and flip bikes on the side to make up on my meager TA salary. It is a good time to be selling motorcycles my friends. Anything with 2 wheels (mopeds-scooters-motorcycles) flys out as fast as I can put it on craig's list. Got some more stuff coming in the mail tomorrow (according to UPS).

The only problem is I'm a crap mechanic and a worse electrician. I can still get stuff running though.

I love it. If I had grown up with a mechanic for a dad instead of a professor I'd be a bike building machine. Like most of you guys (and gals) I wake up earlier on weekends than I do during the week just so I can go wrench. Gotta love what you do.

Also- I've done scooter bicycle and moped tires but is there anything I should know if I want to do moto tires? Same shit harder to pry off?

Dude, you got a good looking woman, too!

Yeah but she doesn't like the chrome on the side panel. Wants me to paint it silver, like a brushed sort of look. She may be right.

The two of us are building her a 1964 Vespa right now. Should be done soonish. I feel kinda bad we've been working on her bike for almost a year. But to be fair the vespa has about 1 million times more body work.

Almost finished. Gonna scrap the gauges completely and get one of those trailtech things.

Need to finish the "plug" for the seat bump.

Then get her idling better.

Nice work. I'm impressed with how fast you're getting this project done. Once I start to get tired during the day I have to stop messing around when I'm working on something. Otherwise I'll just get sloppy and pissed off and something will get broken. It's never good to start breaking things when you're in the process of fixing them. ;)

Getting a Trail Tech computer for speedo/tach etc.

Damn... I love the color combo on this bike. everything works really well. I love the grad school flip bikes approach... maybe Ill go back to school sooner than I thought.

Great work.

Thanks man, appreciate it. Like your project too.

As for grad school it's kicking my ass. don't know if I recommend it. Who wants to quit their job and open a cafe/scooter shop with me? (Vespas, not plastic crap... kinda lame I know but my first love.)

Ha... lets do it dude... where are you? I got my M1 to get a Vespa originally.

What is your area of study?

And thanks for the compliments!
