1975 Carb rebuild kit *help*

Been Around the Block
Looking for a carb rebuild kit for a 75 CL360. I went to a cycle shop that does a lot of classic vintage builds but they only had kits for a CB360 and the guy was insisting it was different than what I needed for my CL360. I told him to my understanding the carbs used on the CB and CL 360s where they exact same.

If someone could point me in the direction of a complete carb rebuild kit I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks,

Joe

Dime City Cycles sells rebuild kits described as being for CB/CL 360's. So sounds like it should fit both.

I've seen the kit on dimecitycycles.com just came across this kit. Its a Keyster Carb Rebuild kit anyone have any pros/done between the DCC kit and this Keyster kit?

Also I am planning on running pod filters or velocity stacks (recommendations are welcome and encouraged) What is the general rule of thumb for jet sizes (pilotand main) and are the jets round style or hex style?

Sorry. Im not very familiar with the bike. I just picked it up off an old man and want to get it running asap. Very low miles but its been sitting for a while and the carbs need gone through and tuned properly.

I only have experience with the SOHC4's but you're probably going to need to jump up quite a few sizes. I've heard of guys going from stock airbox with 110 mains to pods with 135's. But I'm sure a good jet search here on the forum would get you the info you need.

The CL and Cb carbs are the same, but there are at least 4 different carbs used on any of them. The difference is mostly in the jetting. So unless your jets are damaged, re-use them. the float valves and gaskets are the same across the models to my knowledge. This is unlike the CB350 series, which had some very distinct differences between the carbs use year to year.

I have 754a on mine, which has a 110 jet for instance. the older ones might have 68. The kits seem to have a 100 jet, which isn't actually used on any of the stock carbs, to my knowledge.

CrazyPJ can speak to this probably better than anybody. He has rehabbed many more carburetors then me.

I was going to attempt to clean my jets and reuse the stock jets. But if I order pod filters and remove the stock air box I'd imagine I would have to opt for larger jets.

I know elevation, temp, humidity all play into the selection of jets (for max efficiency) so if its any help I live in a very dry climate with summer temps at a 110°F+ (Phoenix AZ and surrounding area)

If you don't want to mess with jetting, just leave the airbox on it.

Factors like elevation, temp, humidity have much less effect than you might think, and these carbs actually compensate for elevation.
