1978 CB550k Shock Mounting GAP

Hello.

I have a 78' CB550k. I bought aftermarket shocks from DCC (http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-suspension-eye-to-clevis-365mm-14-5-inch-black-shock-absorbers-damper-32-0211.html)

When I put them on there is a gap between the eye and the frame. This does not happen with the stock shocks, those are flush with the frame. I needed these longer shocks for my tire to clear the rear hoop of the frame.

Whats the best way of dealing with this?

I will probably have someone fabricate a set of collars to fill the gap. Is this the only solution?

You could fabricate the spacer collars or go to your local hardware store and look for some good quality thick washers. Use a few on the inside to shim it to where it is needed. I have done this on two bikes with no ill effects, and depending on what seat you use you may never really see them as opposed to a spacer collar.

I'll second that. And add that you could also use a chrome washer on the outside of the eye of the shock for a snazzy touch, if snazzy touches are what you're going for...
