Squish heads are necessary for big HP for sure, but at a lower level of tune they are less necessary. The higher the combustion pressure, the higher the probability of detonation with a quiescent head shape.
i was assuming he was going for big horsepower, although reeds alone won't do anything for horsepower in fact could very well lose power on top,but be smoother running lower down the range

The fact is i want to build a 500cc version of my rd with a hand made tank

500 kit on 350 Banshee (the real ones not YZF426 motor) will make around 105bhp
Air cooled will make around 2/3 of that and should be reasonably reliable.
70+bhp should be plenty to get you in trouble ;)

My extra titan motor needs a new crank among other thing im sure. so im gonna go as wild as my wallet and fab skill will let me. but with my rd350, flat track xs thing, r500, tt500 hard tail, and the restored titan i dont really need anything so if this bike ends up a monster im ok with the maintance im kinda feeling this with a twist or two. kinda the way my rd build feed off the things i like on the td2 & tz's

Do you have sizes/numbers for con-rods? (numbers on rods, not part numbers)
I think I still have a set for GT750 plus various other NOS Suzuki rods but can't remember what for (mostly from 70's two strokes)
Not sure about pins and bearings though, but, that's the easy bit as you can match them up from various places
