Been Around the Block
Guy's I just picked up a very nice cl 360 but here is my problem. I picked this up from a long time freind that has owned it for many many years. He informed me that he picked it up from a lady that passed away before he received the title. I want to know my options before I head to the DMV. By the way the bike has 4,262 original miles. I want to get it legit before I start building.

Get the VIN checked. Most DMVs will do it free. IF it is stolen then you have issues if it isn't in the system then MOST states have ways to obtain a new title. Check your states website or ask your DMV, that's what they get paid to do. They prolly have an email or a phone number to call.

There are other ways, but its best to wear out all the Free or CHEAP options first.

Frog, I work in the court system and have plenty of state police bud's to run the vin check. I just wanted to know what to say to the DMV before i entered the building.

Get this Fella's....I had the vin ran by one of our fine state troopers and it came back with zero hits! This bike has either never been registered or the last time it was registered was so long ago the dmv purged the info.

That at least is good news. Now you need to know what you can do to get title. Some states will do bonded titles, some will just let you file for a lost title or a salvage title. Others have mechanics or storage lien procedures that you have to go through that can take a month or more.

I am set now. I picked up a vin verification form that the state police sign off on and ask for a lost/replacement title since there is no record of previouse ownership!!!!! I am stoked!

Alright Guys and Gals, I received my title in the mail this past friday!!!!!!! Time to build. This is my first ever scoot so I will be asking some questions! DTT Rocks!!!!!
