'75 GL1000 - "Pete"

Wire harness cleaned of road grime as well as the shelter frame and front upper engine mount tin. Also, had the final PT on my shoulder today. Should be good-to-go, although slowly as it gains strength.
 
Spent two days (well, maybe four hours total) cleaning the front wheel. Hope it is Ok to clean minor surface rust off of the cad platec spokes. Miced less than .01mm removed. The rim is DID. Also went out and started the tractor. Forecast for Friday is 3"-4", but that is a lot in these Southern mountains. We have chains on the tractor (just a garden tractor) and a snow blade. Usually, mounting the blade in November keeps the snow away.
 
Tractor startup was a good idea. Last week ended up plowing ~3" of snow off of our drive, the daughters (both ~1000 ft) and two neighbors' drives. Today, moved The Hunley to the hoarder's side of the basement which gave me a lot more room to work on Pete. A new set of plug caps came in, and things are rolling along now. Bitter cold forecast, so will be a while before things requiring outdoor work can begin.
 
I've striped the old seat cover off, sanded rust spots on the seat pan, and sprayed etching primer on the seat pan. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be in the 60's, and I'll spray some black on it. Probably put the new cover on it this weekend.
 
I'm dreaming of days in the 60's. This is all going to melt in the next 3-4 days.

SWMBO requested this today. The old 216 JD garden tractor has manual raise/lower for the 31" tiller, but the shoulder did fine.

Mounted the new seat cover today. Then, put the seat in a big contractor bag and stored it away in the shed. It will be a while before the bike is ready for it.
 
Rolled the engine (on a furniture dolly) outside and painted it. Hope to get weather tomorrow for cleaning up the frame and swingarm, and getting a coat of primer on them.
 
Hope the weather holds for you. Weather guessers said a major storm front it headed our way. More so your way than our part of Georgia.

Got about a third of the frame buzzed off and primed. Ran out of energy. Storming right now, but in a couple days may be clear and warm.
 
Rear drive (swing arm) is cleaned and painted. Frame ~80% primed. Had to finally order a new knotted wire wheel for the angle grinder. And ran a magnet nail finder over the drive to keep from picking a piece up in a tire.
 
Finally able to post a photo, such as it is. Yesterday, my neighbor came over and helped to lift the engine from one dolly to the one with doubled 2x4s on it. This morning, I was able to mount the frame (loosely) to the engine. My philosophy is to make small amount of progress daily.

hell yeah. I try and make myself work on something most days – even if only for 15 minutes. thats how you get projects done.
 
Thermostat, housing, upper water tubes and upper motor mounts all on. I guess wiring harness and shelter frame come next.
 
Decided to do the brakes instead. Bad choice. snapped off the bleeder in the Right front caliper, then an EZout in that. Lurking ebay for a replacement.

That's terrible. Sounds like a good time to put the tools away and find a ball game or a movie on TV and just chill out.
 
Wish I had. Instead, took the tractor out to do some mowing. Ended up running over something causing ~1" gash in the left rear 23x10.5x12 turf tire sidewall. Two plugs are holding 12 psi for now, but I doubt they will hold up to mowing.
