Been Around the Block
Just started on a -81 KZ650 and wanted some info. if someone got knowledge if there is 28, or 39mm air filter on a Z650? I am about to buy a K&N Cone air filter.

butzer489 said:It comes down to uneven air flow and restriction. Installing cone filters on an inline four means you have a lot of turbulent air coming from all different directions into tiny individual filters. This means all four carbs are constantly getting an uneven supply of air. The purpose of the airbox is to collect and still massive amounts air so your carbs can breathe easy. If you're well versed in rejetting carbs or you know someone who is, by all means go with pods, because they do look sweet. However, if you want the bike to run well right off the bat, find a way to make your stock airbox look awesome. Or fab up a new one!
