Another n00b, with a new-skool cafe in Madison, WI

Hey. I liked what I was when I was looking around, and so signed up. I'm a fan of cafe racers new and old, and there are a LOT of great bikes presented here. You guys have got it going on. I am also a can of thumpers, and have had, at various times, a Suzuki Savage, a Yamaha SR500, and an MZ Baghira supermotard (presently ride). When I decided I needed a cafe racer, it had to be a big single. At the time (1995) I had more money that time or talent, so the wrenching was done by my local shop (Motorcycle Performance) to specs that we both thought were doable. Here's the result:

The tank graphics identify it as a "Rogue". The engine is a 1978 Yamaha SR500, now 540 CC, with a high-compression piston and other mods. It makes 42 rwhp, and a similar amount of torque. Weight with a bit of gas is around 350 lbs. The chassis is from a 1990 Suzuki GS500, including the frame, tank, seat, swingarm, and wheels. The fairing is modified from a Yamaha YZF-50. The tail piece and front fender are from Airtech. Paint is House of Kolor's Sherwood Forest Green. It's pretty buzzy, but great fun in the twisties.

My other scoots are a 2001 MZ Baghira SM...

and a 2002 Honda 919.

The missus rides a Suzuki SV650 and a Harley 883 Sportster (which I am slowly co-opting...shhh, don't tell her!)

Welcome to the site. That 500 is pretty cool. And, I must admit, I think the 919 is a pretty good bike as well.
