Anyone ever make a tank riser out of wood ?

Putting my old XV920R back on the road after about 27 years in storage.
Not really a cafe racer but I'm not making it stock.
The engine is all done and I've had spoked wheels made.

Am fitting the tank from an early XV750 Virago, but want to raise it up about 2.5 inches at the rear.
Now I've seen people do this with metal brackets, but having no welding skills myself, I'd need to get someone to make something for me.
To try figure out exactly what I needed, I ended up making something from a block of wood, a sort of prototype to show someone what I needed in metal.

But now I'm wondering if this wooden block could end up doing the job.
Is this a crazy idea ?
Would it stand up to the vibration, and with the weight of a full tank ?

Still unfinished, as that top section will have to be narrowed to fit a rubber grommet over it.

I've seen it done with rubber blocks. I think wood would be fine, but compression/strength will depend on the type of wood.

I had a top triple made of wood once:

...yeah, OK, seriously that was just a trial piece that the machinist made up to make sure the program was correct before cutting up a slab of aluminum.

I have seen wood used in this application any number of times on race bikes, it worked fine and was easy to make test fits and adjustments. If I were doing it now, I would wrap it in carbon fiber and brag about my custom, lightweight, composite tank riser.
