Brat seat without cutting frame?

Hello guys! I'm in the middle of a brat/cafe build on a Honda Cb 350, and tomorrow i'm starting on my seat. :D

The problem i have is that i'm borrowing the bike. Even though i'm borrowing it for a long time and my uncle is okay with me fixing it up, i wish to leave the frame uncut, so i can make it back like it was, if i want t.

The "bridge" for the rear fender is therefore an obstacle when building the brat seat. Thinking of making a flat fiberglass pan. These seats are my inspiration if i can pull through:

It seems like they could have been made without cutting the frame.

So my question is, how do i make the fiberglass pan with/around this bridge? Do i just lay the fiberglass cloths around it, so the pan gets a kind of a "hump" around the bridge? and then form and glue yoga maths or whatever i use to the pan, making the seat as flat as possible? Shoud i just implement the bridge in to the seat? I have searched all over for people doing this, but i can't find anything.

Hope someone gets the questions and have any tips or images of simillar seat builds :P All help would be appreciated :) sorry for my bad english!

Here is some pictures of my bike and frame bridge:

I would form the fiberglass around and over the bridge. You have to be careful that you don't leave a gap between the top of the bridge and the frame rails. That will cause a lot of stress on the fiberglass pan when you sit on it. May even crack it if you don't use a lot of layers. Basically creating a female mold that will fit perfeftly over the surrounding areas. Tou could mount the pan to the top of the bridge and then another point towards the tank. Then put foam on the pan to meet the bridge and cover it.

Use your stock seat pan, trim your foam down to the thickness you want, and have it recovered. You get your brat seat, without modifying anything on the frame. Quick and easy.

THIS
the fooking tire goes up there when you hit a bump, use yer brain :) just ride the bike and enjoy ;) nobody is going to notice the seat, in fact just ride it with the stock seat it is a loaner bike what is wrong with you :-\
and that fender on there looks awful terrible stupid dumb and will NOT WORK
your english is very good ;D my norweigen sucks

Yup - get a stock seat for the bike, rip the vinyl off and start shaping the foam. Then recover it when you like the way it fits your ass.

Here's what I did to my old CB550 seat 8 odd years ago!

I did pretty much exactly what youre looking for.

The rear of the seat stops at the bridge. Leaving bridge exposed. I am 6 ft tall and w the rearsets and tarrozi bars I use the whole seat but it works really nice.

I made a new pan from aluminum, re-using the stock hinge and lock. I also have 2 inch thick wondergel pad in there. I couldve went cheap and used thinner foam pad but I wanted comfort.

Because I didnt want a hoop, it does need added support between the frame rails to help w flexing. I also welded a second heavier steel bridge to double as a support the rear of the seat, along w a couple rubber blocks bolted to frame tabs to support my weight under it. To keep seat pan from contacting battery and electrics, tucked tightly under there.

I have better pics of the seat construction here.

There is a bunch of pics here, along with a pic of the seat open. You can see the supports, hinge, and lock.

You may end up experimenting w the ideal placement of that fender for best swing arm/tire clearances.

Dont listen to xbs bullshit. He seems to like to keep his imagination locked in a tiny little box.

I dont ever recall him having balls enough to post a pic of the monstrosity he rides.

Hell I dont know if he even owns a two wheeler.

If you like that fender, then I love it!!! that fender is going to be AWESOME!!!

Maybe its just a difference twixed whats neat in Norwega and whats neat here in Merica.

A little like a Harley and hill climber had a baby! :D

thanks deviant.

Well maybe xb would give you the "thumbs up" to the fender if you stuck a shit load of stickers on it. ::)

Thank all of you guys for replies! Lots of good tips and opinions :) I was really impatient when i posted this, haha, so i started with the seat pan almost momentarily. I chose to try the fiberglass way, as it seemed cheap and fun :D Quite pleased with the result:

The tricky thing now is to form the yoga math (i know it's pink, only color they had :o ) to the shape i want. Not sure how i'm gonna do that exactly. Just add layers and then use a grinder (don't know the english word)?. I've taken care of the mounting. Don't know if it's going to be comfortable, but heck, I'm young and stupid 8) Do you guys think i should go for a black or brown seat, considering the bike's colors? Any advice is appreciated! :)

Thank you for the support ;D That fender is not anywhere near done though, i just put it there to get a feeling of where the seat pan needet to be in front of the bridge! The fender is actually an old Harley fender though, haha, so maybe it's going to look weird! ::) Anyways, I'm gonna shape, shorten and adjust it when the rest of the bike is closer to done! :)
