I have a CB175 cafe without the stock welded-in mudguard that I would like to add a simple hugger-style rear fender to. I'm thinking of buying one of these:

and cutting it approximately at a 1/3 of the length and mounting it on the swingarm next to the pivot. Just looking for some inspiration, examples, people to bash the idea or improve it...lemme see it.
There's also these things I could adapt but I think I'd like it to be a bit bigger. I'm sure vibration will come up as an issue the bigger and heavier the unsupported "beam" becomes.
Maybe something simple like this...
